Name: Sky Frost Parents: Diamond Frost & Trad Oak Age: 17 Gender: Female Race: Human Weapon: Bright smile and charms, a filed-off double barreled shotgun under the counter. Semblance: Radiance - Sky can solidify light and shape it into a physical objects. The total weight of the objects is limited to 50 kg. Sky can control the mechanical properties of these objects through will, able to make them as stretchy as rubber or as hard as a diamond. She can control the object mentally and thus use them as projectiles, but as soon as the object leaves physical contact it becomes much more taxing for Sky to keep the object from dissipating. Her range limit is 50 meters, afterwards it becomes too difficult to keep the objects intact. Due to being untrained, in an actual combat Sky wouldn’t be able to hold her semblance active for more than 5 minutes before she would lose focus. Instead she trained to be able to use it in her job, whether she is summoning a latte etching tool or floating coffee or cake to a customer on a flying light saucer. Personality: Sky is a cheerful fellow, always smiley and optimistic. She is polite and courteous to the point that she rarely expresses a negative feeling in the presence of others. As such, very few get to see the darker side of her personality that is a mischievous troll. Sky finds an unhealthy amount of delight in playing pranks on her friends, scaring them with ghost stories and a locomotive horn mounted in her car. Sky is a bit selfish and vain, something she blames Diamond’s genes for. It didn’t help that Diamond has spoiled her rotten when she was younger. She only wears designer clothing, with the Adel brand being her first choice. The girl is a bit of a show off, something that does her great service at the café. Sky loves everything associated with her job, having grown in it, from coffee to her performances. She doesn’t quite have her mother’s singing voice, but inherited all of her dexterity that lets her do a good show behind the bar counter as well as neat magic tricks, with cards being her favorite instrument. The girl has always seen her father as an advisor, given that as a child she could never tell when Diamond was being serious and when she was being made fun of. That probably served the girl well, giving her much nicer personality, although one can never have Diamond Frost as a mother and remain pure of heart. Being a daddy’s girl has its own downsides though, as anyone who is friends with Sky enough to pursue any romantic interest in her also knows the huge mountain of a man that keeps order in the Drunken Huntress is Sky’s father, discouraging many her potential dates to Sky’s unending frustration. She is the responsible big sister to her brother, or at least tries to be most of the time. That said, she will allow herself to be bribed more easily than she would like, often having trouble saying ‘no’ to him if the request is harmless in nature. On the other hand she makes sure his homework is done when she gets off work and other things that are important. She is a little overprotective of him, and all bullies learned long ago to leave little Oak alone. Appearance: Sky takes a lot after her mother, being taller than most girls her age. Unlike Diamond though, she has not been training as a huntress, making her seem lankier than her mom. She makes a point to keep her figure appealing as she comes into contact with customers, packing up healthy 65 kilos for her 179 cm of height. Her skin seems lightly tanned. Her face is an odd mix of her parents. While it is the same angular shape as Diamond’s, her eyes and hair color are definitely inherited from her old man. Sky’s favorite haircut is a mikado, with a bunch of hair flowing over her left eye. She wears a plain silver earring in her right ear. The girl can usually be seen in one of two outfits - either her business school uniform, or a barista attire composed of black pants and vest, white blouse and a red necktie. Her pose seems relaxed and her motion is very fine, trained by years of helping in their family’s establishment and performing various tricks like juggling and magic, which require less strength and more fine control. Biography: After graduation, Diamond broke off from team CODE, as she was never able to overcome the differences between her careful, analyzing approach to things and the faster and more brute force approach the rest preferred. After a year of going solo, she bumped into an old friend in an inn. Given how much they drank over old memories and cramming the tales of their past years into one evening, one doesn’t wonder that after a few weeks, Diamond noticed an accident that would eventually be known as Sky Frost. Not wanting to show up like she needed a wheelbarrow for her stomach and always hating dresses, Diamond and Träd waited with their ceremony until after Sky was born, which is why the girl uses her mother’s maiden name. Sky’s childhood was heavenly compared to Diamond’s, her mom spoiling her rotten because she knew what it was to be hungry and wear rags and wanted her kids to never experience anything remotely like it. For the same reason, Diamond ended her hunting career immediately, as she wouldn’t let her children grow up without a mother like she did. Instead she gathered what money she saved since Beacon, took a loan on the rest and bought herself the bar she had always dreamed of. For the first few months they struggled, but eventually taking the extra money to buy a spot on one of Vale’s busiest streets paid off. Sky grown up in the establishment that was a café by day and a bar through the night. It wasn’t really that surprising when Diamond caught the 12 year old Sky one day serving a customer when the ex-huntress went to fetch something in the back room. Since then Sky was helping her mom after school. When Sky turned 15 and thus able to be legally employed, she was both happy that Diamond entrusted her with the café and saddened that their days of working together seemed to end as her mother took care of the night part of the business. When the time came to choose high school, Sky initially wanted to go to hotel school to expand her skills, but Diamond persuaded her to go for business academy, subtly hinting that she intended for Sky to take over the business one day. Several gazes traced to the source of the sound, a white MPV parked in front of the Drunken Huntress. Inside was a seventeen year old girl who looked ready to eat the steering wheel. This would be the first weekend she’d get to spend with her mom in the last two months, and she was late. Finally Sky saw Diamond exit the house and head for the car. Usually the Drunken Huntress was open on the weekends, but they decided to put in new windows, which made the house unavailable for two days, and thus the free time. To Sky’s delight, Guld had persuaded their father to take him to see the Vytal festival, not that Träd needed much persuading. She loved the males of the family deeply, but she didn’t see much of Mom on regular basis, and she wanted some alone time with her. “I am going to dunk you like the overgrown child you are.” Diamond said as she got to the car. Sky grinned as she fired up the engine and floored the accelerator, taking them off towards a 5* hotel. “You’re just jealous because you didn’t think of the horn first.” the blonde smiled, earning a ‘hmph’ in return that she would know to interpret as a grudging agreement. The dunking wasn’t a random pick, as both of them were very fond of the local spa and masseurs. Carrying trays and juggling bottles every day of the week made them both crave the relief it provided. “So, I heard dad scared off another boyfriend.” Diamond said as they drove, and Sky groaned. “Don’t get me wrong, I like dad, but come on! How long can I be ‘daddy’s little girl’? I’m turning 18 next month!” the girl whined. Diamond scratched her head in thought. “He just doesn’t want you to have an... accident. Dunno why, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.” Diamond smiled, and saw the girl’s mood rise up a notch too. “You know what I’d do? I’d bring home a girl, just to see his face.” that had Sky bursting out in laughter, enough for Diamond to yell at her to watch the road. ~~~~ The day was simply wonderful. Sky felt like she lost a few months of age. They went dancing after visiting the spa, but miraculously managed to steer clear of any alcohol until they got to their room. Inevitably though, they would talk shop - it was a passion for both of them. Rummaging through the minibar in the room, Sky found several bottles of various liquors. “I’ve been training. do you think you can keep up, old woman? I already took over the café, soon the bar will be mine too!” Sky teased, setting the bottles on the small table in front of the sofa Diamond was sat on. “Oh look, a little hen wants to teach the eagle to fly.” Diamond smirked as she checked her phone. “Dad and Guld wrote, they, quote, made it and set up the camp.” “The poor things.” Sky grinned as she glanced around the 5* apartment. “Now, what you said sounded like a challenge. What would you have?” Diamond said, popping her knuckles, stretching her arms and setting the stereo to play a tune heavy on drums and guitar. Sky called for a Cosmo and Diamond got to work. Sky was reasonably confident until her mom started juggling four bottles at once. Her hopes of winning evaporated when Diamond set up three of them on the counter once their ingredients were mixed in and landed the last one on her head, doing a small curtsy to soften the impact force not already absorbed by her hat. “Daaaaaaamn.” Sky said as she let out the breath she was holding, her eyes twinkling. “Waaait, where’d your shadow go? You used it to stabilize the last bottle!” she exclaimed, pointing the accusing finger at her mom. Diamond grinned wide: “First time you noticed. You are getting better!” Beaming at the praise, it couldn’t push aside the fact that Sky had barely a few really good tricks with three bottles. With four, all she had was making glass shards. “And here I thought that I can actually stand on the same stage with you in a year. I’d feel like an amateur.” Sliding the finished drink over, Diamond sat down next to Sky on the sofa. “Is that what you really want?” she asked, her tone a bit more serious. “‘Course! Come on, ma! I see you what, for an hour at dinner time? You’re asleep before then and working afterwards, I have to do my schoolwork, play with bro some so he doesn’t forget he has a big sister out there somewhere…” her voice was sounding more and more frustrated and sad, ”If I can at least work alongside you, I mean we are in the same house most of the time and yet I still miss you-” At this point sky was interrupted by Diamond tackle-hugging her. A faint sob bounced off of the walls. “I’d like that.” Diamond said, “But don’t give up on your day job. What you do is art! You can win competitions in your own league, you poured me a coffee with the image of a cake on it for my last b-day for heaven’s sake. I could never do that. And you always liked coffee more than booze. Don’t do something your heart isn’t in just because I do, and I’ll promise I’ll find some more free time.” Nodding rapidly, sky gripped her arms tightly around Diamond, toppling them over onto the sofa. “Sing me a song?” she said with puppy eyes. “Aaaaw, look at my overgrown little girl!” Diamond grinned, but could not resist the pouty face Sky was giving her. Running a hand through the blond mane, she took a breath. Close your eyes fill your head. Rest your body on the bed. Dream of roads that lie ahead. Dream of words unsaid. I will keep you safe at night. I’ll turn every wrong to right. And I will stay from dark to light! And I will hold you tight. Though you’re young and free you’re a part of me. To you will come no harm while you’re in my arms. Diamond didn’t get to the last verse, as by that point both of them were happily asleep.
