Ruby used the [i]bo,[/i] yes, but she didn't let herself get sliced in half. Interposing it between the monster's hand and her torso, Ruby held it back, before she grabbed the longest claw and began to push it backward, attempting to either break the claw, or the beast's finger. The [i]bo[/i] fell to the ground, beside her, as she released it, in the same motion. 

As soon as the beast released her knifehand, she would stab upwards towards the creature's abdomen, and if the creature just took the blow, drag the curved blade toward her, not unlike the curved talon of a giant raptor cutting through flesh. She would attempt to spill his guts by slashing up to the chest cavity, and once there, drive it in harder.
