((Lol, I am trying not to laugh as I'm writing this, but uh... I am going to describe some pokemon moves. My descriptions might not be amazingly accurate. But bear with me, and I'm sure you'll see where I am coming from with these descriptions.)) Ray noticed another new trainer arrive and send out a Snivy. It looked like it already was comfortable with him, it was cool to see them together. Turning back to the mentor, Ray was happy that the mentor liked him, but disappointed that his request was denied. Still though he was given the premier ball and he cherished it. His family, his mother most especially said that gifts were to be valued highly, because they are special in the sense that someone gave them to you, a small token of their kindness. He nodded as he thought about his mom and how she must be missing him so much right now. Don't worry I'll make sure to see you soon. Ray hoped anyway. Depends if his journey allowed him the means to get back home. "Thanks Flora, this is a really cool ball." Ray then watched as Sterling sent out his starter a penguin? It looked like a strong pokemon. Hearing about a battle Ray was quite eager to give his pokemon some practice and against the penguin seemed as good idea as any. "Ok, Sterling lets have a battle." Ray challenged him and Sterling seemed to be happy to oblige. In short order him and Sterling faced off in the middle of a nearby field. an open outside arena, with the clear blue sky above, as a breeze ruffled his hair, this area did seem to Ray a great place to check out what his pokemon can do. They both sent out their pokemon: His Totodile and Sterling's Piplup. Ray started off with a Leer attack where his Toto. opened his eyes wide, stared at the opposing pokemon while also putting his face forward aggressively. The piplup seemed scared and fell down for a second. It seemed too frightened to defend itself much. Piplup replied with a pound attack, which looked like at least to Ray that piplup punched his totodile in the face.... C'mon Totodile you can be tough and win this one... C'mon Toto... Totodile obviously looked a little roughed up but he wasn't out of the battle yet. For three turns the same moves encountered each other. Leer vs Pound. Totodile seemed almost to the point of falling over for a very long nap but he managed to keep his feet. Piplup looked almost defenceless from the repeated Leers. At last, as Totodile followed up its last leer with a next turn scratch, basically a slap with claws, the piplup didn't have enough defence to face the 'fearsome attack' and fell over, completely knocked out. Ray returned his pokemon to his pokeball. "It was a good battle Sterling. "Maybe you will win next time." He said in a friendly, good, sportsmanlike manner.
