There was a time when witches held more sway than gods. The kingdom of Ashemeire experienced this first hand nearly crumbling to ruins because of these powerful women not long ago. Like a swift illness peasant females from neighboring provinces ages 14-18 were suddenly developing abilities so cataclysmic they leveled mountains and drained seas. An epidemic of raging enchantress' so omnipotent many feared the world would burn to ashes.

What King Calderon of Ashemeire's inquisitor discovered of Witches can be found in the beginning of several tomes written by scribes. Witches have developed pointed ears along with luminescent eyes. These two characteristics nearly impossible to hide.

Their powers first manifest randomly into one of the following elements: earth, wind, fire, or water. Power from all elements become available to a witch the longer she lives though she usually only specializes in one.

Only one witch has been known to use spatio-chronkinesis or the ability to manipulate space and time. Being the first recorded witch and the most powerful we have labeled her Lilith as she must be the cause of this curse-the mother of all witches.

Eventually all witches develope dark magic and become Maleficium as it is their true nature. Necromancy, blood magic, and rot inducement are just some of the troubling arts they are capable of.

There are fables of a pure or light witch but none have been found and even so no-one would let her live long enough to prove her innocence.

Law decreed exile but many witches retorted using vengeance to further fuel their destructive will. This brought on a tumultuous period of time known as The Dark Ages. The sun literally vanished from the crystalline sky. Like a plague villages were diminishing in the blink of an eye. Thousands perishing until the witch hunts began. Kingdoms from different regions emerged together and sent forth their best regiments. Somehow Ashemeire knights gained the upperhand thanks to a lowly soilder. He later became an ever mysterious yet glorified man by the name of Sir Mordred the Obsidian Knight. If only they had known sooner what darkness he would wrought.

Hunts are seldom these days since the wicked creatures have laid low due to Sir Mordred's hand. Since his dissaperance a few years ago however, witch activity has increased slightly. Due to the rarity and near impossibility of catching or killing a witch, as reward, those who do are granted titles of nobility. Still, few are brave enough to attempt. Sir Mordred was truly the morale that brought upon these successful pursuits. With him but a legacy left behind all mourn his loss and lose hope in the battles against witches.

Yet, there is something much more threatening than a witch lurking through the lands as of late; townsfolk who dare speak of this impending evil do so in whispers. They call him The Scourge and he does not desecrate alone. Fortunately a prophecy dictates a male who will be the resolve. He will save these lands from a deadly fate and become the one true king.
