Ethan rushed out of the lab with Maya as he had received his first pokemon, Cyndaquil which he named Cinder, "Hey Maya! You ready for an amazing journey?" Ethan asked as they approached the entrance to route 1. "Yeah. me and Vivi are so ready! Isn't that right?" Maya said as she looked down to her vulpix who was running right beside her. Vivi nodded and made a cry to show it was super excited. "Hey maybe Cinder would want to travel out of her pokeball for this trip?" Maya suggested "Good idea." Ethan said as he pulled out a compacted pokeball, hitting the button and expanding it. "Come on out, Cinder!" Ethan called out as he tossed the pokeball and releasing his Cyndaquil. "Alright you ready for adventure Cinder?" Ethan asked as Cinder let out a cry and a smiled at him. With that they took their first step onto route 1 and began their journey.

"So think we'll meet any cool people to travel with Ethan?" Maya asked as they walked through Route 1 "Hmmm maybe? I don't really know to be honest." Ethan replied "Oh yeah didn't the professor say other new trainers were out with Flora?" Ethan added "Yeah they only left a bit after we got our pokemon so they shouldn't be too far." Maya said. Soon they closed in on the gate to the next town, they see a group ahead of them near the gate "Hey think that could be them?" Maya asked "It's gotta be." Ethan replied as they both ran up to greet them "Hey are you the other new trainers that just left Anvil Town?" Ethan asked one of them.
