Semblance: Artist's Apparition- Aurum's semblance draws power from the thoughts of his friends and foes. When he activates it, it manifests in the form of a transparent, golden calligraphy brush. Speaking aloud a poetic incantation as he draws the corresponding characters in the air using the brush, the subject of the poem is brought into reality as a tangible specter that's power depends on the emotions and spiritual strengths of those surrounding Aurum. Unfortunately, if the summoned is heavily influenced by the negative feelings, it may turn against Aurum and attack rather than obey him. Ultimately, Aurum depends on his teammates, as trying to create a summon of any large size will drain him too much on his own for the summon to be sustained. When Artist's Apparition is in use, Aurum gains a set of horizontal, black stripes that reach from his neck to the end of his tail. Personality: Aurum has just a touch of ditziness from both of his parents, but usually hides it through composure and careful choice of words. Although he is quite creative, with a talent for writing and brushwork, this and his book smarts can be overshadowed by his social naivety. He is trustworthy and gentle, but can be lazy when he has no one "on his case", so to speak. He has a reassuring presence and is very even-keeled, offering anyone and everyone emotional support even when he himself is feeling the same way. That being said, he is a bit of a hopeless romantic and will quickly become a doormat for any pretty girl who gives him the time of day. Luckily for her, though he had what seemed at times like an endless harem of admirers, Shiro eventually returned her affections and it came as a surprise to virtually no one when they started dating and later got married. When Sepia found out that they were going to have a child, she retired from being a huntress to avoid the possibility of her son losing both of his parents, and instead took up teaching juvenile aspiring hunters and huntresses. Shiro continued to fight against grimm, but more importantly, he became a positive figure in the case for ending racism against faunuses. After Aurum was born, he was an only child for ten years until his younger sister Peridot came along. He quickly settled into the role of "cool yet responsible older brother" and became his Peri's sworn protector. Though he and his sister always wanted to be hunters like their parents, Aurum found occupation in writing poetry, most of which centered on epic tales of fantastical beasts. Through this hobby he discovered his semblance. Though he would later use it to its fullest extent in battle, Aurum primarily created tales and projections about small, cute creatures to entertain Peridot while their father was away. As he grew into an adult, he gave up the idea of attending Beacon because he did not want to put his father into the position of choosing whether to care for Peridot or continue working to change the public opinion on faunuses by example. However, he has found happiness through his family, art, and the cute girls across the street. Story Time: (Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxC7EyReV8M ) "Wake up, Aur." Aurum opened his bleary, golden eyes to find his mother's own shiny greens gazing at him lovingly. She was hiding her mouth behind one hand, the other being use to prop herself up on the edge of his bed. At nine years old, he was no better judge of feelings than he would be later in life, but even he could see that his mom was hiding a smile. Every now and then, a small puff of air would escape through her nose, and there were small crinkles by her eyes. "What's so funny?" he asked, curious. His mom smiled easily and found most things amusing to some degree, but she currently looked as though holding in her laughter was killing her on the inside. "It's just-it's just-" she snorted, finally giving in at his prompt. "You were talking in your sleep, and-and-." she pitched forward helplessly, tears forming on her cheeks as her head hit the mattress with a small "whump". "YourpillowcaseisinyourHAIR." she finally rushed out in between giggle fits. "Huh?" Aurum wasn't quite getting the connection between his night-time mutterings (oh god, was she listening in on them?) and his pillow case. He reached up and ran his fingers over his head, producing a rain of fabric shreds - and a tiny, light blue dragon. He stared at the glass-like reptile blankly. It was amazingly detailed, and probably very expensive, so where did it come from? It spat a small jet of fire at him. "You're alive?" he gaped, looking rapidly between it and his mom, who was sitting up again and trying to rearrange her hair. She caught his eye and smiled at him. "It seems you have an interesting gift." She wrapped one slim arm around him and pulled him close, kissing him on the top of the head. Her other hand slipped under his and lifted up the dragon, her index finger curling over to gently rub the little creature's muzzle. "You'll have to show it to your little brother or sister someday." Aurum beamed, his gaze settling on his mom's barely showing baby bump. "Yeah, I bet they'll love it." *** "Up, up, up, sleepyhead!" A twenty-two year old man rolled over and groaned. His younger sister apparently was not going to leave him alone until she had proof that he was on his way out of bed. Aurum bolted up into a sitting position and grabbed the little blonde sprite on his bed by the wrists as she "eep!"ed in shock. Aurum gave Peridot a devilish grin. Stripes formed on his tail and a golden brush between his teeth. Struggling with a wiggly girl, he awkwardly wrote a simple character in the air with his mouth. In a small flash of light, a green kitten appeared on Peridot's lap. She gasped in delight and abruptly shifted her focus from escape to obtaining the baby cat. Aurum, happy to oblige her, finally released her arms, which she used to scoop up the kitten and start petting it. "It's sooo cute, Aur. You're amazing!" Peridot's deep green eyes were full of wonder. "Not as much as she was." Aurum thought, admiring the similarity between his sister's eyes and their mother's. He'd always thought of it as a reminder of the sacrifice she'd made bringing her precious daughter into the world. Out loud, he said, "I'm sure you'll find your own interesting gift in time."
