Description:
Standing at 5'9": Leon sports a thin, yet wiry frame, his body marked with tattoos on both forearms and an elaborate mural on the ride side of his neck. Though the markings on his forearms are merely simple tribal designs that wrap around to the elbow, the image depicted on his neck is of flesh being torn by the maw of a snarling wolf. The hair on skull is rather course and unkempt- the dark brow locks faded to near balding on the side, as the length on top of his skull is drawn back into a ponytail that dangles just below his top vertebrae. His mouth is surrounded by a goatee of the same course texture, but it's trimmed to just over an inch in length from the chin while the area around the mouth is neatly designed. If spotted, Leon will almost always bare a cocky grin, his stark green eyes seeming to take stock of whoever they fall upon as if judging them.
General Apparel:
One can normally see the man in a rather simple ensemble, a white shirt (or wife-beater) with khaki cargo-pants or jeans (mostly the former). It's very odd to see the man in anything else, though he does own a fancy suit and his old fatigues... But the occasion on which those are seen are nearly non-existent. He does wear his old dog-tags from time to time, and a silver ring engraved with Celtic knots is almost always on his right ring finger.
On-Field Apparel:
Mayflower APC: Desert Digital pattern, Kevlar Vest
Rugby shirt: Khaki-Colored
Desert Digital Shemagh
Khaki-Colored Field Uniform Pants
Black Neo-Prene Elbow and Kneepads
White Trigger Gloves
Khaki-Colored Combat boots
1x OKC-3s
1x M4 Carbine (Suppressor)
1x M9 Beretta (Suppressor)
2x M67 Frag Grenade
2x M84 Stun Grenade
1x M83 Green Smoke Grenade
Cocky and impetuous, Leon tends to rather abrasive and brash- often reacting violently at any form of provocation without any forethought. Despite this, he's well-coordinated in the field and tends to be able to observe his surroundings quite diligently despite his quickened pace- able to spot out tripwires, mines, and other traps with relative ease. His off the field demeanor leaves something to be desired, as his head strong nature leads to frequent boasting and often comparing others to himself. He doesn't make friends easily, but those that can weather his rude and off putting behavior will catch a glimpse at his more humorous and supportive nature. Always the one to crack jokes in tense situations, Leon prides himself on lightening the mood when things seem dire- even at someone else's expense.
However, if one earns his ire, it will be a rather difficult relationship. Leon will go out of his way to provoke or antagonize his victim, often bumping shoulders or openly taunting the individual with his actions or pranks. The quickest way to this result is through his 'pick on your own size' mentality. If a stronger individual oppresses or abuses one weaker then himself, Leon will usually step in on the side of the underdog -even if he himself is outmatched by the assailant.
Interests:
Physical Fitness, Rock/Metal/Alternative Music, Dogs, Action Movies, Norse Mythology, and Confidence
Dislikes:
Timidness, Abuse, Physical Weakness, Cowardice, Country Music, Rom-Coms/Romance movies, Spiders, and Birds
Strengths:
High capacity for CQC with knowledge of different styles, above average mid/short range combatant, agile and dexterous, excellent eyesight/hearing, and survival enthusiast
Weaknesses:
Prone to ignoring orders or acting out, susceptible to taunts and provocation, poor communication skills, almost no technical prowess, and no affinity for long range weaponry (mortars, sniper rifles, rpgs, etc.)
Ideal Role Model:
Jack 'Fighting Jack' Churchill
"Any officer who goes into action without his sword is improperly dressed", words that sound insane in the modern era of war, but that didn't stop Jack Churchill. Armed with a sword and bagpipes, Churchill endured captures and times in internment camps during World War Two, but always found a way to escape and make his way back onto the battlefield... Or at least that's how the stories went. Even still, it was enough to inspire Leon to try his hand at military service. That and his military family might have had a hand to play in it.
History:
Growing up in a very strict military household, Leon was always the black sheep of the 6 kids in his family. Often starting fights with his old man, or generally acting out for attention was his daily life, or at least that was the case until he reached the age of 16. Having enough of his antics, Leon’s father, Luther ‘Mad Dog’ Duroe, made arrangements to have his son shipped off to a military academy to hopefully teach his child some discipline.
Needless to say, this didn’t sit well with Leon- often finding ways to antagonize his fellow cadets or the officers in charge to his own delight. This wasn’t without backlash, as most of his time was spent in the shoe or some other form of disciplinary action until it eventually wore on the boy. He didn’t lose his fever or his energy, but a few good beatings convinced him to redirect it towards constructive goals, seeing him focus hard upon his studies and training enough to graduate. Driven by his lust for a good fight and excitement, Leon wasted no time enlisting in the Marines shortly after his graduation.
Service History:
Leon's time with the 'Jarheads' was not a pleasant one, but what was really expected out of the Marines? Constantly having to restrain himself from openly throwing down with his superiors and other soldiers, Leon struggled during his two years of services. Shortly after being promoted to Corporal, his squad was tasked with what was supposed to be a simple recon exercise along the borders of a known enemy installation. His CO promised that the likelihood of combat was next to none, which at the time irritated Leon as he merely bit his tongue and followed orders. So, the squad was air lifted and dropped several hundred feet from the mission area and ordered to make the rest of the way on foot. Not a hard task, but the entire time, something wasn't sitting right with Leon.
Sure enough, when they reached the mission objective- they were greeted by the sight of a beat down truck- complete with an LMG equipped to a post on the bed- and a few armed insurgents. Luckily the enemy was scouting the area and had not seemed to notice the now entrenched squad- who had hunkered down inside an ruined building on the other side of the hill from their intended target.
"What the hell?" Leon whispered, his hands never leaving his rifle as they waited in the shadows of the structure, "What are the damn odds? You figure that-"
"Shut the fuck up, Leon!" the Squad leader, Marcus Thompson spoke up, "They're there now. We need to report back." It was at this point that every glanced over towards Nero Delrio, the comms specialist who merely hung his head, "But it seems the sand and the weather are screwing up our equipment. We can't get a signal out."
"What about the city?" Another squad member chimed in, "If we can slip past them, there are a few taller structures in the city. We can try our comms there and-"
"Are you crazy?" Marcus interjected, almost jumping from his position along the wall towards the speaking member, "You actually want to try sneaking past them? In the wide open desert? You've got to be out of your-"
"Let's do it." Leon chimed in, standing from the wall as he made his way over to the younger member of the squad, Nathan Jones, offering a hand to assist the boy his feet. The bewildered look on Marcus' face beneath his helmet brought forth a sigh from Leon, "They're waiting for us either way. We either retreat with nothing to show, or sneak in complete our mission, as well as get some additional recon in. Besides, I'm tired of sitting here and just shooting the shit."
