Sorry I couldn't get to you sooner. Was busy recuperating.
For a few play reasons. First is character saturation. If we have too many characters at the start it can get really confusing and it'll already be a tangled mess. Naturally starting with 1, and then when people get more comfortable, we can start adding more, is best. Next is whether or not the players can play those two characters sufficiently. This comes down to players, but some people don't know whether or not they've bitten off more than they can chew. I think it'd be fine adding more characters, but please cut some off if they're not necessary or don't add to the current cast properly. I mean I know it's an RP, but there's a reason that shows introduce characters bit by bit. Best we can do is start with one character per player, and start including more when relationships are more established between both players and characters.
So correct me if I'm wrong, but your main concern has to do with the relevance and use of the secondary characters, and how their participation will affect everyone else, right? Whatever the answer to that question, your concerns are all valid and I won't even try to dispute the idea that an oversized cast at the beginning is not always a good thing. Anyway, to actually address your concerns, note that the only people who have secondaries or are planning to make secondaries are the GM and his co-GMs, the people in charge of making the plot run smoothly. So you can suspect that there's a reason they're there. (Besides, TBH aside from Shiso, they're more or less just NPCs rather than dedicated PCs and we'll be shelving them when they aren't necessary) Don't worry, it ain't like we're trying to have this end in a trainwreck. EDIT: BTW, I don't expect anyone to submit sheets or anything tomorrow and the day after for obvious reasons.
