She aimed a hard thrust at Alex's shoulder, angling the blade ever so slightly to make it harder to block. Thankfully these were only training blades, so they wouldn't do too much damage, even if she connected.

"I'm Madison. Nice to meet you, Alysse." She went over to the weapon rack, picking up an iron shortsword in the Spartan style. She might never have held a weapon before, but it was something she had at least seen. She settled into an awkward defensive stance, belying her total inexperience at this sort of thing.
