It could, but that seems more than just alternate history to me and where are we supposed to find a map to represent that? Unless someone wants to try and find one/make one, we're all stuck with the same earth we know.

The other option was to have my Character be some how related to your character by way of cousin or something and effectively making him part of the royal family despite not actually knowing much about you.
