TROOP ROSTER Each race has a variety of troops at your disposal. Assest their strenghts and use them effectively, Emperor.
Spearman - “Loyalty cuts deeper than any sword.” - engraving on a Spearman’s sword. Refrence image : The Spearmen are the meat and bones of the Human army. Trained to fight proficiently with a spear and sword and equipped with a large shield, a row of these brave men are akin to a wall which stands between the enemy and their less resilient compatriots. Musketeer – “Ready! …Aim! …Fire! …Reload ! “ – Standard Musketeer orders. Refrence image : The Musketeers are the may long-ranged troops of the Human army. Equipped with lighter armor than their melee compatriots and more than enough ammunition to slay anything that moves as well as a shortsword for close range if necessary. Medic – “It almost cut all’ a way through, I swear. Would’av lost my good arm if it wasn’ for that comely lass. Got me patched up and was back on the field in no time” – Tale from a Human soldier at a local bar. Refrence image : The Medics are specialized Humans trained in the art of mending wounds and treating any other ailments that their fighting comrades could encounter on the field. Combining both modern medicine as well as healing magic taught by Priests, the Medics are capable of restoring the Human troops to fighting condition and prevent possible losses. Tactical War-Mage – “Private, if you can’t aim straight now, what will you do in a real battle? – Stand close to a Tactical War-Mage, sir? “ –Conversation between a Musketeer and drill instructor. Refrence image : These spellcasters are trained and instructed on using their magical talents to enhance their comrades. Magical wards on the field, enchantments on weapons and armor, barriers and more are some of their talents, to name a few. They can also conjure up ethereal weapons to arm themselves and stand side by side with their fighting comrades. Wizard – “Sure they can make fire rain from the sky and throw lighting from their hands, but without their magic they’re just old people in fancy robes….. Right?” – Overheard conversation at a military camp. Refrence image : Unlike the Tactical War-Mage, the Wizards employ destructive magic which they perfected over the years for maximum efficiency. Wizards are employed into military service only if they so desire which pretty much means that they are probably the most limited units of the Human army, however, even a small number of these masters of magic are enough to turn the tide of combat. Paladin – “So basically, we swear to protect the weak by mercilessly killing those who disagree, while professing blind faith in the gods and carrying a crucifix around ? – What? No! I think the crucifix is optional.” – Conversation between two future Paladins. Refrence image : Combining small firearms, proficient swordsmanship and holy magic, the Paladins represent the very best of the Human army. Knights in strong armor, crafted with modern design to achieve a balance between imposing protection and mobility, Paladins are considered blessed by the gods and charged to bring righteous victory in any battle. Cavalier – “Jousting is just for show, he says. Its in no way efficient in a real battle, he says. He ended up with a large hole through his chest and now he doesn’t say anything anymore…” – A Cavalier at the aftermath of a battle. Refrence image : The cavalry of the Human army is considered one of the most dangerous foes to ever face on the battlefield. Mounted on fiery spirited stallions and armed with steel lances, one would make a fatal mistake to underestimate a Cavalier in full charge. Even if unhorsed, a Cavalier on foot would reach for its back-up sword and continue being an imposing opponent. Juggernaut – “For the last time, we don’t need your plans for a war-machine. We have our own! “ – Officer dismissing an engineer’s plans. Refrence image : Only the very few selected undergo the grueling and back-breaking training program to becoming a full-fledged Juggernaut. The people wearing these massive armors are born and bred for war, akin to a lump of ore undergoing rigorous work to becoming a fine steel weapon. Showing no fear and absolute obedience to their superiors, these silent, hulking machines for war carry around large portable cannons as their main weapon and as such are considered a mark of Human siege.

Infantryman – “Pass me the ale ! I can’ shoot straight if I ain’t besotted.” – A Dwarven Infantryman on the eve before battle. Refrence image : The bulk of the Dwarven army is consisted of Infantrymen. Stout warriors armed with a rifle for long range and a war-pick for close encounters. Dangerous on both accounts. Field-Engineer – “What’s the difference between a Dwarf Engineer and a Anthro Engineer? The Dwarf doesn’t call himself Anthro and the Anthro doesn’t call himself Dwarf.” – Dwarven joke. Refrence image : Dwarven engineering is second to Anthro engineering yet many claim that they are more-or-less on par with each other. The Dwarven engineer are focusing their work for combat and thus they themselves are called on the field to maintain their creations, supply ammunitions to their comrades and pick up a firearm themselves if the situation demands it. Grenadier – “Some fight for justice. Some fight for glory. Others fight for riches…. Then there are those who fight just to see the world explode” – A Grenadier stating his motive for becoming one. Refrence image: Grenadiers are trained to value speed over strength, thus they appear to be much thinner than any other regular Dwarf. Their speed and maneuverability is valued by equipping them with a variety of grenades which they use efficiently. Be it either a smoke grenade, incendiary, toxic and many more, a Grenadier can become a valid threat. Rune-Meister – “I bring the word o’ me Gods. An’ tha’ word be, ‘bugger off !’ “ Refrence image : Rune-Meisters are the Priests of the Dwarven folk, gifted with the power and wisdom of using the ancient mystical runes of their people. With the power to heal wounds, throw fire-bolts, magically transport themselves on the battlefield and various other magical abilities, these Dwarves are seen as blessed by their Gods and their very presence is considered favorable for the Dwarven armies. Siege Engine – “They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Well, consider me flattered.” – Anthro Engineer upon inspecting a Dwarven Siege Engine. Refrence image : The Siege Engine may be a clunky version of the Anthro War-Engine but it makes up with a stronger build and devastating fire-power. The Dwarven Engineers changed the original design by adding a mortar-cannon and reinforcing the form and plating to create a veritable war-machine. About the size of the Anthro War-Engine yet with a firepower closer to their Tank, the Dwarves are proud of their invention while the Anthros are mildly impressed. Bear-Knight – “It’s when you see a squadron of those, charging angrily at you, that you know you are royally boned.” – Unknown soldier, now deceased Refrence image : Taming the wild beasts that inhabit their mountainous environment was a true challenge for the Dwarves, yet no one can argue with the results. The Dwarven Knights are clad in light plated mail and armed with a variety of weapons which make them versatile warriors, yet it is their mounts that set the apart on the battlefield and can shaken the hear of the boldest of soldiers. Thane – “Becomin’ a Thane be the highes’ honor fo’ any Dwarf. Secon’ to dyin’ as one. “ – Overheard during a ceremony naming a new Thane. Refrence image : Thanes are considered living ancestors, commended by the Gods themselves for their value in battle. Only the most combat harden and most deserving of Dwarves can ever aspire to becoming a Thane. Their arms and armor are forged by the best Dwarven smiths and enhanced by runes from Rune-Meisters, making them formidable warriors who consider that dying in combat against the most impossible odds is an assured way of standing proud among one’s ancestors in the afterlife.

Ranger – “Doesn’t matter how hard you hit if you won’t get the chance” – Elven Ranger arguing with a Dwarven Knight, Refrence image : The vanguard of the Elven army, the Rangers, value skill over brute force. Armed with strong longbows for long range along with an exotic Elven blade in each hand, the Rangers dexterously maneuver through the field, displaying an impressive set of skill sharpen for efficiency. Sniper – “Long distances, strong winds, pouring rain, it doesn’t matter. They can still shoot an arrow right between your eyes” – Unknown survivor from a skirmish Refrence image : Elven Snipers are the quote-unquoted finest marksmen of Avalon. Incredibly keen eye-sight and an iron patience is key, combine that with solid bows and arrows ensorcelled by Druids and the Snipers can hit any target from hundreds of meters away. When it comes to close combat, the Snipers rely on their enchanted cloaks to blend in with the environment and either escape to a safe distance or ambush their foes with daggers. Druid – “Nature will rise against you !” – Druid Battlecry Refrence image : The Druids are both the guardians and the Priests of the Elven folk, harnessing the power given to them by their Gods to manipulate and control the forces of nature to their will. Druidism is said to be an ancient art, older than even the magical arcane arts or the Dwarven runes. These days, the proper instruction of a Druid is troublesome and the art is slowly drawing closer to mythos status, as such today’s Druids are said to be less versed in the arts than the olden times. In spite of all that, Druids are considered a strong force of the Elven army, trained to use almost any weapon with skill and combining their proficiency with their primal magic to cause damage, enhance allies, mend wounds or even use the very environment to fight for them. Sylvan Guard – “Some would give body and soul for their cause. I’m not sure if that is admirable or disheartening…” – Human conversing about the Sylvan Guards Refrence image : Once an Elven warrior is considered worthy, he or she will be given the option of undergoing a ritual performed by the eldest of Druids in which the candidate will fuse his body with the very land they are sworn to protect. Thus, a Sylvan Guard is born. A warrior whose whole body can be manipulated in a weapon. The Sylvan Guard is a knight of the forest, felling no pain and with no other goal in mind other than fight for their homeland. Stag Rider – “Considering what creatures one can find in a forest, you would think they could use something more…intimidating than bloody stag.” – Dark Elven Beastmaster upon seeing a Stag Rider Refrence image : The Elven Druids can influence the creatures of the forest to heed their call, thus they can employ the bestial forces of nature to their aid. The noble stags are used as mounts, yet the Elves do not tame them, they claim that the creatures themselves are benevolent enough to carry the Elves and aid them in their plight. Regardless of the truth, the cavalry of the Elves consists of strong, larger than normal, stags with Elves clad in lighter armor armed with either spears, swords or bows, riding into the battlefield and imposing the strength of the wild. Treant – “What the hell are you supposed to do when the land itself is going against you?” – Panicked Human on the battlefield. Refrence image : The Treants are the very embodiment and rage of the Elven homeland given free reign by the mystical powers of the Druids. Animating a Treant requires a tremendous amount of effort from a Druid yet the result is a hulking wooden giant with incommensurable strength and high durability.

Vanguard –“It is in moments like these where we see how similar we are in the end…” – Conversation between a Elven Ranger and a Dark Elven Vanguard Refrence image : Similar to their surface cousins, the bulk of the Dark Elven army consists of warriors who value skill and speed over brute force. However, unlike the Rangers, Dark Elven Vanguards make use of a more underhanded style of combat and instead of bows, they carry light pistols which they can combine with their swordsmanship by using it in the off-hand, for elegant and deadly efficiency. Rifleman – “Few people can appreciate the true worth of a beauty like you. Their loss.” – Dark Elven Rifleman mumbling while cleaning and reassembling his firearm. Refrence image : The long-range units of the Dark Elven army consists of the deadly Riflemen. The Dark Elves welcomed the advancement of technology with open arms, quickly adapting to the use of firearms and developing a proficiency for them. The Riflemen train their marksmanship to extensive levels and equip their rifles with a scope in an attempt to increase their rage and accuracy beyond that of a regular gunman. Infiltrator – “They will lay down their arms for you, lift a mug in your name, fight and even bleed at your side. You will be ready to introduce them to your mother as a close friend…..and then you will regret ever meeting them.” – Overheard from an Anthro at a bar. Refrence image : Not suitable for on field combat, the Infiltrator is used for the various under-handed strategies. Espionage, sabotage, information forgery, assassinations, you name it, they will accomplish it without question but will demand appropriate compensation. Off the records, of course. Shadow-Mage – “Ofcourse dabbling in the dark arts is risky and questionable. But tell me one war that was won without doing something risky and questionable?” – Dark Elf Shadow-Mage arguing with a Human Priest. Refrence image : Shadow magic, dark rituals and occult tendencies are few of the things that a Shadow-Mage is know to do. The Dark Elves are known to have learned and dabbled in the arts of dark magic, said to be the reason for their separation from the surface, yet the ancient ways of the Dark Eleven Warlocks are long forgotten and these days, the practitioners of the arts are called Shadow-Mages. They combine whatever limited knowledge of the dark arts they have left with swordsmanship and thus created what many claim to be a shadowy version of a battlemage. Beastmaster – “The underground of the land is home to many vile creatures that have never seen the light of day. As the superior race, it is our duty to tame and subdue them to our will.” – Beastmaster instructor addressing their peers. Refrence image : The Dark Elven Beastmasters have the unenviable duty of taming the terrifying creatures of the underground and keep them in line should they be used for battle. Lizard-Raptors as mounts, Minotaurs as slaves, Giant Spiders as gruesome executioners, are some of the accomplishments credited to the Beastmasters. On the field, they are responsible with keeping control over whatever beasts they bring along yet they are also efficient combatants with either a spear or their signature trident. More often than not, Beastmasters are seen mounted on Lizard-Raptors when employed on the field of battle. Minotaur – “Teaching them how to use the weapons was easy. Teaching them not to shoot at us was the hard part.” – Dark Elven Beastmaster conversing at a bar Refrence image : In the past, the simpleton Minotaurs were used by the Dark Elves as slaves for hard labor or thrown to battle in an area due to their impressive strength and durable nature. With the advancement of technology, the idea of employing the Minotaurs for war was suggested and was welcome with great disapproval. However, the idea managed to pass through and the Dark Elves engineered heavy firearms for their stout slaves to use. When first the idea was set into practice, 1 in 5 Minotaurs decided to free themselves from their subjugation, to the surprise of the Dark Elves. Thus only the most loyal of Minotaurs are conscripted and undergo training and instruction on using firearms and following proper military orders which is apparently is considered a form of honor and freedom among them.

Grunt –“Few things are as frightening as a wall of big angry Orcs.” –Human soldier on the eve of battle Refrence image : The vanguard of the Orc army is consisted of strong, beefy Grunts. In the olden times it is said that these warriors fought bare-chested, these days the Grunts are equipped with strong armor and shields for better efficiency making them arguably the strongest foot-soldiers of Avalon. Head-Hunter – “We don’t actually collect the heads of our victims, not anymore anyway. “ – Overheard from a group of Orcs gathered around a campfire Refrence image : Fierce archers dressed in mid-light armor form the Orcish ranged units. Head-Hunters earned their name from the rumor that the most skilled of Orc hunters used to collect the heads of their prey as trophies in the olden times. These days, they do very little head-collecting if at all, yet they kept the titles for tradition’s sake. Witch-Meister – “ You remin’ me of a’ Orc. –What Orc? - One with tha’ power. – What power? - The power of Voodoo. – Who do? – Yea yee do, yee do. “ – Confusing conversation between a drunken Orc and an equally drunken Dwarf. Refrence image : The Orc Shamans are the spiritual body of the Orc folk, claiming to have the power to commune with the Spiritual World and call upon its power. Witch-Meisters employ this rather strange form of magic to add a mystical element in the Orcish amry. Restoring wounds, rituals to strengthen the body, mind and spirit, or even calling back the spirits of the recently deceased to re-enter the lifeless body are what one could expect from an Orc Witch-Meister. Screamer – “They should really change the name of these warriors. The only ones doing the screaming are their opponents.” – Unknown soldier in the aftermath of an Orcish skirmish. Refrence image : The most ferocious of the Orcish army are the Screamers, warriors wielding large battle-axes which mastered the art of combat, harnessing their endless rage and unleashing it on the battle-field turning them in unrelenting killing machines, wreaking havoc on anyone unfortunate enough to cross paths with them. Few warriors in the whole of Avalon can match both the ferocity and raw force of the Orc Screamer. Wolf-Knight – “If your wolf hasn’t tried to bite your head off at least once, than you need to find one with a little more fire in its belly.” – Orc Wolf-Knight instructor during drill training. Refrence image : In the olden times, the Orcs tamed the fierce wolves of their lands to use as hunting companions or combat beasts. In time, they successfully managed to produce this special breed of wolves that are twice as large as normal and eventually they created these fearsome warriors which form the Orchish cavalry. The most heavily armored of the Orc troops, armed with large swords, axes or spears, the ferocity of a Wolf-Knight is only matched by the ferocity of its mount.

Elite Ranger – “No matter how much you think your technology has advanced, the Anthros are there to show you that you are still behind.” – Human Musketeer after seeing a squad of Anthro Elite Rangers Refrence image : The advancement of technology permitted the Anthro to equip their foot-soldiers with the latest of advanced weaponry. Clad in armor that offers solid protection as well as decent mobility and equipped with unique firearms with a semi-automatic firing system, the Anthro Elite Rangers are the signature troops of the Anthro army. Field-Engineer – “Sure every race now-a-days have engineers, but I still say we are the best at this job.” – Anthro Engineer boasting at a bar with his co-workers. Refrence image : With the advanced weapons and war-machines that the Anthro have in their army, the Field-Engineer is an indispensable unit. Repairing the war-machines, supplying ammunition and even actively participating in the combat themselves. Equipped with lighter firearms and wearing lighter armor consisting of a long duster which is ideal for storing their many tools and small contraptions. Highlander – “Just because we prefer advanced weaponry does not mean we don’t know how to properly handle something more, traditional. “ – Anthro Highlander on the eve of battle. Refrence image : The Highlander is the melee unit of the Anthro army. Clad in armor similar to the ones worn by the Elite Rangers covered in long cloaks and equipped with large two-handed swords, Highlanders are proficiently skilled in the art of sword-fighting and offer a pleasant variety for the Anthro army. War-Engine – “A metal shell for protection, a large semi-automatic firing gun and a track system for mobility over almost any terrain? What’s not to like?” – Anthro Engineer while working on a future War-Engine Refrence image : The War-Engine is the middle war-machine of the three. Offering strong protection and rapid fire-power as well as a newly designed mobility system, the War-Engine is clearly destined to revolutionaries the art of war. War-Wagon – “Who needs horses?” – Anthro soldier at a bar Refrence image : The War-Wagon is the lighter of the three war-machines of the Anthro. Instead of using traditional mounts, the Engineers designed this relatively light-weight war-machine for efficient transportation over the battle-field and equipped with light-weaponry. It was welcomed with mixed feelings. War-Tank – “I’m fucking invincible ! “- Anthro soldier inside a War-Tank in the midst of battle Refrence image : The War-Tank is the heavy of the Anthro war-machines. Build with a large frame, heavy armoring and an intimidating ‘battering-ram’ – like design, the War-Tank is easily distinguished on the battlefield and immediately recognized as a threat. Equipped with a large cannon, this war-machine is designed for large sieges and for razing structures.

Legionnaire – “Even after dying, their loyalty is still strong.” – Human Spearman regarding the Undead Legionnaire. Refrence image : The foot-soldiers of the Undead army consists of the Legionnaires, warriors who share a similarity in equipment and combat style to the Human Spearmen. Unlike their living counterparts however, the Legionnaires are no longer affected by the common afflictions that plague the regular soldier, such as hunger, disease, fatigue or pain. These unrelenting fleshless warriors will march on the battlefield and raise their bony fists in defiance to any foe. Marksman – “ For dead guys, they have pretty good aim.” – Anthro soldier taking cover from a volley of bolts. Refrence image : The Marksmen are the main ranged units of the Undead army. Similar in their strengths with the Undead Legionnaires, these warriors prefer to use crossbows and are capable of carrying larger amounts of ammunition than a normal solider who is concerned about its encumbrance and eventual fatigue. Reanimator – “Aim for the one bringing them back. Otherwise this battle will take forever and we don’t have that long a time.” – Elven Sniper conversing with his compatriot. Refrence image : A Reanimator is a Necromancer specialized in the ‘resurrection’ of the Undead troop. While their offensive capabilities are limited, a troop of Reanimators are essential to a proper army of the Undead. Blood-Ranger – “If you have to fight against the Undead, never attack during the night and always keep at least one eye open when sleeping.” – overheard from a conversation between Human soldiers. Refrence image : When night falls, these fearsome units of the Undead army descend upon their foes and decimate them under the light of the moon. Blood-Rangers are skilled specialized Undead, utilizing a combination of light pistols, shortswords and unique dark magic to a devastating effect. Lich – “Undeath is easier once you accept that it happened and pretend you were never alive to begin with.” – Undead Lich on the aftermath of a successful skirmish Refrence image : Unlike the Reanimator, the Lich is a Necromancer specialized in using their dark magic in an offensive manner. Draining the life-force of their foes, throwing bolts of shadowy-destruction, unleashing clouds of deadly disease are some of the abilities that a Lich brings to the battlefield. Goliath – “You killed it once, it came back. You killed it again and it came back again. How the flying fuck are you supposed to kill this thing for good?” – Anthro Elite Ranger telling a story from a past skirmish. Refrence image : The Undead Goliath is a monstrosity crafted from particularly powerful Necromantic magic. Fused together from the corpses of multiple dead, the Goliath’s main strength is not its large size or colossal strength, but rather its ability to reform from virtually any damage received and become nigh-on ‘unkillable’, a trait unique even among the Undead.
