Hecate was tricked at the start of the war, Apollo told her that her son was going to kill her and that she must take a preemptive strike. Hecate could not believe it, and yet the look of anger on Occus' face the last time she saw him was a daunting reminder of her accidental betrayal of him. Apollo, being a god of prophecy, was not to be ignored lightly, so she cast a curse to steal her son's powers so he could not harm her, but he had a become a better magician than even her and avoided the magic trap she had laid. Her relationship with her son was already sour, when he perceived the attack as an attempt on his life he destroyed his mother, gruesomely. Yet he kept her soul imprisoned in Wickedeisos, caged by her own bones within his new realm.
