Like travel places discover new types of animals, plants, etc. Or you could be an inventor of sorts though I don't know if that would fit your background story unless you were taught how to be an engineer

Probably venture then because the character isnt necessarily after knowledge for the sake of knowledge. But at the same time that might be interesting. I'm thinking I want to bill him as a collector of martial techniques and equipment from across asia. As well as helping to expand the British empires grasp on the world. So he probably would have seen battle in America on the side of the British come to think of it. He'said probably more Emporia list than scientist though. So that's a tough call. On a side note are these names by chance borrowed from Vampire the Masquerade?
