Sunday, 9:30 PM The room was pitch black. The clouds lingered from the morning's rain. Only the artificial light from the laptop illuminated Amaya's hunched over body. Rachel was out with some friends, most likely Christmas shopping. On the other hand, Amaya's head was in her hands as she stared wide eyed at the screen. This can't be happening. Amaya spent the afternoon finishing her biology paper. She'd made great progress, and was about to turn it in to Professor Matsuoka, until IT happened. There was a bit of lag as the computer loaded, and then black. Pitch black. All the mechanical whirring of the machine stopped. As did Amaya's heart. Panicing, the blonde tapped a couple buttons, but to no avail. Hopelessness filled the college student as she realized she didn't save. The number one rule of doing anything on a computer, violated. Not only that, but the essay was due that night. The despair filled girl slowly pushed the power button and the laptop started up. As the computer took it's time booting up, Amaya held her head in her hands. There was a hot pressure behind her eyes. So much effort, down the drain. She struggle to keep the tears in. While there was no one around, it was a natural instinct. The previously abused girl was used to being physically injured for crying. But, that was in the past. Reluctantly, Amaya pulls up her email to send a message to the professor. Dear Mr. Mastuoka, Due to an unfortunate technological issue, my essay will most likely be turned in late. I apologize for any inconveniences, and also will accept any deductions of points that you feel is necessary. -Amaya Tsukino After reviewing over the email, the deflated female clicked send. Then, she began reconstruction what she had lost.
