Just read the wiki article about Mandalorian armour and you will understand~ I know I love the style as well but Mandalorian armour is the one of the best there is! I mean the lonely planet of Mandalore nearly brought the republic  to extinction, it was because of their training and equipment! 

The Storm Troopers are known to be boss like later on...but they seem like toy soldiers compared to Mandalorians!
