Good idea. Cain might be familiar with Kurtz and the Firm since it is, first and foremost, a supplier of high-end occult/magical artifacts and services. Maybe something about Cain's current case makes him seek out the Firm? He needs a particular kind of magical something or other? Or information, which the Firm also trades in.

Alternatively, Kurtz could call Cain and ask if he knows any conjurers who might suit his needs? Cain may have worked for Kurtz a few times, since- as you can see- the Firm apparently uses alot of outside contractors.
