WE HAVE ALL BEEN LED ASTRAY
Premise Ω
In the distant future, humanity has made its place among the stars. A vast interstellar aristocracy rules over an even vaster population of less fortunate souls. The disparagement between the “haves” and the “have-nots” is poignant and conspicuous. Class strife, fueled by the fervor and relative independence of the planets distant from the main hubs of power, comes to a head. The First Tyranny War begins.
Hundreds of billions perish.
With the attrition of war beleaguering both the Orion Empire, and the Nym Separatists, a shaky peace is at last reached. The galaxy is divided, and its people work to settle into a new, and often foreign, status quo. Yet, in spite of the trials of the newly ordered galaxy, there is peace among men for the first time in a decade.
A generation following armistice, unrest has once again boiled over in the Milky Way. Terrorists associated with the radical arm of the Nym Separatists have returned to Earth, and managed to trigger a catastrophic launch of fission weapons upon the planet’s surface. All life was instantly vaporized. The cradle of all humanity is now nothing more than a desolate rock.
The Second Tyranny War begins, except this time, nothing short of total eradication of all Nym citizens and sympathizers will suffice for the Orion government. Human blood once more fills the vacuum of space, and the entire galaxy seems to spin in shamed agony. Justice and freedom from fear is the banner to which the citizenry of the Orion Empire rallies.
You are a member of an elite squad of the Orion Empire’s best operators. As full-scale conflict spreads to the far corners of human space, your team is tasked with personally hunting down and destroying the terrorist organization behind the sterilization of Earth. It is a singular, specific, and obvious purpose, and one that any Orion soldier would yearn to undertake. Patriotism fills your chest, and gives a deadly edge to your righteous ire. You and your team will make those responsible pay.
However, as with so many human machinations, things are not always what they seem…
