He has no intentions on misbehaving during the trial, but he knows himself well enough to have no doubt in his mind that at some point he may get a bit too into his job and mess something up for fun, that's just how he is. He wants them to be prepared for such a case because sometimes he just can't help himself. He also clearly didn't care if what he was saying was only serving to stress Veronica out more. He wants to see how she handles it.
