@LetMeDoStuff Will our characters be able to be dodgy and eccentric? I'm all for new recruits of an army, but can we make it some specialized offshoot rather than just copy/paste grunts? The character I'm writing has a criminal background and unsavory motivations, which I think works well with the environment they are in.

Sure, that should work! As long as they were freed bfore they joined. As it was mentioned, almost every available/unemployed, as well as single, childless and volunteers, person was sent for training. People with some sort of criminal background would be likely to come across. As long as everyone wasn't some sort of criminal. The innocent, weak and fearful mix well with the bold and grungey.

Also, as everyone would have the rank of a Private, as Military ranks and stuff are still in use, especially with the 'Base' the survivours are held up in are a last branch of the British Forces. Myself, however, will be the only one who's been within the Military for longer than the others. It'd not be much longer, and doesn't mean the apocalypse would be a confident subject they could tackle, and would also only contain the first NCO rank of Lance Corporal. So...yeah...

Sort of. They were the survivors from the Military. As the Thread will explain, the vast majority of the survivors from the British Forces managed to find themselves moving into one of the five survivor camps, like creating a faction. Each camp has its own individual speciality, and the one that the Roleplayers will be working/assisting will be the Military-Survivor-Based faction. This may seem like a crap idea and all, but it was the best I could pull out of my thick skull.

@TeddiplierTechnically, I can change this...But if you wish to leave, that is your decision. I wasn't planning on it being a Military path, it was just that many of those were from that 2 Day-Period of having to be recruited. Sorry for not making this to the standards that you want, and I wish you the best.

Edit - I have altered the progress of the Thread so the options for being Ex-Recruit are slimmer. For it to make more sense, I'll still have a larger option to be a civilian. Generally, I too agree that the Full-Military path wasn't a successful choice. Myself now being annoyed that I didn't put my original idea forward and converting to what I thought others would probably enjoy more, I apologise to those who were hoping for either one.

@LetMeDoStuff would survivor-mercs or just general rag-tag scavengers be easier? Like a specialised squad? i think maybe a turn off for some players is being british army recruits makes characterization slightly rigid. My character I had started writing is actually an american ex-con and has sort wound up in london by accident and plunged into a situation.

I definatly know what you know about you not wanting average joes to be too skilled. But I think there is room for survivors to be very competent. If we take Joel from TLOU he isnt a solider and has had no real training but he and tess are resourceful, tough badasses, I think there is room for a balance, if we were to go less military.

But I'm am very interested for the record.

@Dynamo FrokaneThat's why I've now changed it. It is now civilian based, but basic weapon handling has been issued from the one or two Ex-Military Personnel from within the camp, and are more of some survivors, put onto Scavenging roles. I am really apologetic towards everyone for the disaster this Roleplay has become so far.

@LetMeDoStuff I dont think its a disaster at all, youve put forward a lot of good ideas and we just in the process of hashing it out, as its still in interest check phase. Let me show you my character. Ive got him ready for the OOC.

So the survivors have basic gun training and stuff. I think that's a better balance.

Will they still be going on that rescue mission or not?

@BilboTheGreatRescue Mission, if you guys want to. The task they are being given has about three objectives, which'll most likely be fucked by the time they get fully into it. I'll create some tasks when we've begun the Roleplay.

I do not want to be a bummer, but I would like to make some constructive Criticism. As evil and prepared as he looks, I feel like he is a bit over the top. These being mostly survivors and having only enough equipment to hold themselves together, I feel like all these weapons are a bit over the top. I'm fine with the Sledgehammer, and maybe petrol-bombs, but many of these dynamite and stuff seems too far for the groups. Maybe one or two grenades as for a special, as there were some Military scavenging points, because most of those would've been taken at this point. For the Desert Eagle, I'll have to say no to. The British Army haven't got access to it, so there'd be no way that they could find it from a Military Stash. Some of the dates and stuff seem to be a bit off, and it'd make more sense to be in London when it happened. The walls and defences around the city made it difficult to escape and to get in, and it'd make no sense to come all the way from Italy to London for the apocalypse. I'll put a few ideas for Weapons in the OOC, but I'd like to apologise for this statement.

Well I cant do much about the image, that's just how he looks. But I can swap out the bombs for the 2 hand grenades and an incendiary, and remove his desert eagle altogether. I'll add a few petrol bombs and molotov coktails in its place. Maybe he can have a smaller custom pistol like the colt.

Colt 1911

Let me know what dates would work better.

I don't want to be a Bummer yet again, but maybe for weapons...This Might Help

As for the appearance, maybe making a second image to show what they look like as a person without that gear would be ideal...The camp wouldn't trust someone who keeps masking themselves up for no reason.
