Sethlan barreled through the woods as fast as his scrawny legs could carry him, chasing after the human girl and his dreams of glory and heroism at the same time. Even without a giant sword in his arms throwing him off balance, it was miraculous that he even managed to keep up his speed, let alone stay in sight of the girl, as he gave chase. More clouds of smoke burst from the ground as the girl fled, and yet Sethlan powered through, clipping the sides of trees he couldn't see and scratching up his arms in his attempts to keep up. He nearly lost his footing again when the ground gave way underneath his feet, courtesy of a pile of marbles spread across a smooth patch of dirt in the forest, but somehow he managed to stay on his feet and continue giving chase, legs pumping hard against the ground to make up for lost time. Sethlan was reaching the end of his rope. His muscles burned, his extremities went numb, and every jagged breath he took felt like it would set his lungs on fire, and yet he kept going. And somehow, he was catching up to her. Only yards away, then feet, then just a few paces. His body screamed in agony, but with a smile on his face he kept going, getting close and closer until he was sure he could have reached out and touched her. This was it! He was about to catch her! He was going to do something amazing, and everyone would love him for it! It was his time to shine! It was his time to be the hero! "Y-you...evil-...doer!" he cried out in great shuddering gasps. Thus with a crack like a whip, the errant tree limb struck home right between the conquering hero's eyes and deposited him in a patch of flowers on the forest floor, completely and utterly knocked out.
