DESPERATION & EPPIE JONES [sup](Collaboration Story Event)[/sup]
The process of transferring the heart from the plastic bag to a proper organ cooler was a quick one, ensuring that the organ was a lot more protected than it had ever been while in the plastic bag. It also allowed him to properly store and stack it in the freezer without much in the way of issues, already making a mental note to contact the girl's parents to tell them that a heart was available and to organize a time and a place for the surgery. With the grim task of logistics taken care of, Desperation stepped out of the back of his truck with the intention of going and meeting up with everyone else to discuss the fact that they would need to do something about their former team mates before his gaze fell on the woman in her earlier twenties on the floor, bleeding out through her abdomen in what appeared to be silence. Ignoring the conversation going on between the card shark and what appeared to be some sort of snake charmer, the doctor moved over to the downed woman's side immediately, kneeling down long enough to pick up/assist her in standing as he softly said "Your name is Eppie right? Or is it Maw? Well either way it doesn't matter, right now I need to know how you got that wound to your abdomen." With a slow moving turn Eppie turned to face the Doctor, hearing the question that he generously presented. As he lifted her up and felt the blood loss quickly drain from her upper body her head started to feel light and dizzy. A necessary move that almost caused Eppie to pass out for a brief moment. "She was a fool! Never listening to me. Always thinking she's in control," her mouth spat out uncontrollably. "Maw... not now," Eppie muttered, regaining control with the little energy that she had as the dizzy spell began to wear off. "We were caught out... by a surprise attack. A monster... much like us." She paused for a moment wondering how bad the internal injury was. For a creature of her type she had never really been injured in this way before besides a few lacerations and some heavy bruising, however it was somewhat expected since most of the victims of Maw's attacks had been human, or human like creatures. This was the first time she had faced a beast that was more powerful than she was and it was something she had to come to terms with. Despite it being hidden underneath his mask, Desperation's eyebrow raised at the mention of the fact that Eppie wasn't human, identifying as a monster instead. The second, somewhat different voice that managed to escape her lips did shred a bit of light on the situation but nowhere nearly enough for him to get an in-depth answer about what was going on. Deciding that such questions were better answered after treatment, the doctor carefully started to carry/lead his patient towards the back of his van. While he was absolutely certain that there would have been some sort of medical facility on site, Desperation wasn't familiar with it or what condition it would have been in after being abandoned for over five years (Not to mention the fact that its former owner no doubt used it for... less then sanitary means). Better to use his truck; He knew what medical equipment he had there, what drugs he had access to and he knew that it was (mostly) clean enough for surgery to take place if need be. Sitting his patient down upright at the back of the van, Desperation hopped inside in order to grab what supplies he needed. Still, he needed to know more information to help narrow down what he needed. "Two quick questions before we get started. It's generally standard procedure before doing this sort of operation to give you a fairly solid pain killer; It'll make the operation itself easier for both of us but you'll be a bit out of it for a day or so afterwards while it passes through your system so I'll leave it up to you if you wish to have it or not." "Pain killers will be fine." Eppie replied quietly, knowing that operational procedures can be painful at the best of times and being out for a day is better than being out for more than a week. "The second question is largely because you're not a full human; Do you know what sort of effects using a painkiller would have on you? Would it even effect you at all?" While some might have argued on social media that asking such a question was racist, the cold science of it was that using medication designed for a human on something that wasn't human (such as an alien) was a risky procedure and shouldn't be attempted unless there really was no other choice. Eppie did seem human enough to use human medication but if she claimed otherwise he had to take it into account. "Human?" the question caught her off guard for a moment as it was something that she hadn't thought off for a long time, "Eppie is sort of human as Eppie is just a chimera with multiple DNA. That is how Eppis is able to transform at will, when Maw allows it." Eppie watched carefully as Desperation pulled out a fresh needle from one of his cabinets and inserted the tip into a glass vial. With a gentle motion he pulled the end out, filling up the inside with a thick substance that would eventually make it's way into her side and numb the area around the wound. While Desperation injected the anaesthetic into her side he noticed her left eye iris subtly change from it's natural colour to a golden hue. Assuming it might have been Maw taking a peek at what was going on he dismissed it as a quirky perk of the girl. Both of the Villains didn't realise that this quirk was in fact the unknown identity inside Eppie that was beginning to experience the world for the first time.
