CHAPTER 1
A FRIENDSHIP
------------------

Nevada had a certain beauty to it, a beauty that could not be found anywhere else on earth, sure everything there was dry and dead, but all you had to do was look at the way the sun appeared through the distant clouds and mountains to see the true beauty to this place. At six in the morning a gentle wind carved its way through the barren lands of Nevada, like a whispering message being carried on a beautiful, never ending journey, leading endlessly onward until the end of time itself. The skye filled with a beautiful orange as the sun greeted the day, bringing with it a hazy and warm feeling even though the nights within the desert were freezing cold, especially during the summer times.

The wind carried on to the old farm house, an almost abandoned place where two unsuspecting girls laid in rest for the night. The wind penetrated the old wooden beams of the farmhouse, causing the entire building to creek like a naturally occurring alarm clock being triggered by the wonders of the universe. The wind began to increase in intensity, causing one of the window shutters to bang hard upon the barns foundations, the sound alone was enough to bring Riley to her senses, springing her awake to face the dimply lit interior.

Riley would immediately splutter, clearing the hay from her lips, nose and eyes, sure it wasn't the best of places to sleep but it was fairly comfortable to say the least, one thing that wasn't so pleasant though was the smell, a smell like one-hundred barn animals had lived there for hundreds of years, but sure.. It could be worse she thoughts. With a gentle whimper she'd slowly emerge from the hay, arms reaching outward for the floor to give some support to stand, being half blinded by the breaching sunlight she'd stumble at first, slowly making her way over towards one of the windows of the barns interior to get a good observation of what the day had to bring.

She'd eerily turn around towards her backpack, pulling out a small bottle of warm water, she'd screw her face up at first, but honestly it was better than nothing at all. She'd cough gently before taking a small swig from the bottle, allowing it to clear her throat and give her skinny body a kick-start for the day ahead, but before she could do anything else, she felt it, the inferior crams began to build up within her, followed by a rumbling stomach. She'd groan, letting out a soft sigh before turning around to pick up her backpack and ready herself to leave the small safe haven, but then.. she spotted something or... someone?

With a tilt of her head she couldn't help but notice the arrangement of long brown hair flowing out from what appeared to be half the body of a young girl in the opposite stack of hay. At first Riley thought she was seeing things, immediately causing her to jump back in a nervous retaliatory reaction, flopping back and falling onto her ass, the impact made her yelp. After falling down she's just sit there, staring at the girl, then thoughts began to fill her head, such as. "Was she here when I arrived?" "Is she dead?" "No.. She's breathing." "What the fuck?" She'd let out a soft exhale of air, thinking once again that perhaps the best thing to do was just leave and let her sleep... She didn't know her, the girl could be a crazy serial killer after-all.

Riley would wait for a few moments more, thinking things over... But then she realised, perhaps this was an answer to her loneliness. The girl was clearly homeless like herself, and the presence of a backpack and ruined clothing certainly proved that point, like seriously, why else would someone choose to sleep in a damn barn of hay? With a build up of her courage she'd slowly crawl towards the girl, leaning over her to get a better look at her face. Riley twitched a little bit.. Damn.. She was cute, and it didn't take a genius to see that.

Riley leaned back away from her a little before extending her arm out towards the sleeping girl and would proceed to gently poke her. "Uhm.. Hello?" She'd say quietly at first with a whisper before pressing her finger against the girl a little harder. "Hello!?" She'd say a little louder, hoping to get the girls attention and hopefully not to scare her... This was after-all the first person around her age she had seen in a month, Riley wasn't going to pass this opportunity for a friendship.

On an opposite side of Riley there laid a sleeping girl curled up on her side just to try and keep herself warm from the cold nights that Nevada was known for, over the last two years Elena still could never get used to the freezing temperatures in the desert. However the mornings were so peaceful the sun slowly rising over the mountains giving off a brilliant orange, red glow over the surrounding landscape. Elena's clothes were dirty and very worn from constant wear and over the two years her clothes had small holes and tears every so often, her shoes also had seen better days. Elena honestly never thought about running away from her grandparents, she did feel bad leaving them behind their only reminder of their daughter whole passed away several years ago, she wondered how her parents would have reacted to if they both were alive now to find their only daughter had ran away.

Feeling the warm comforting sunlight beating down on her face Elena rolled over slightly causing a light shuffling sound from her makeshift bed. Elena had found this very old barn the night before, after a week of hitch hiking and walking Elena was so tired when she came into the barn she didn't even know that there was another girl her age sleeping in the barn as well.

The past two years were lonely she had no other friends who she could turn to, even her childhood friends on the other side of the country though she had a feeling that none of them would remember her at all. The young girl rolled over onto her side letting out a low groan as she felt something poking her, and then a soft voice however Elena could tell what the voice was saying. That's when she was poked harder Elena opened her eyes to see another girl around her age hovering over her, she jumped suddenly feeling the adrenaline pumping through her body. Elena stared at the girl breathing heavily her eyes started to eye the girl in front of her.

The girl in front of her was attractive and cute, Elena sensed that this girl was going through the same problem as she was and she was homeless as well. Who else would even think of sleeping inside of an old abandoned farm. Elena's mouth was completely dry her lips were slightly cracked as well from the lack of water. "Who are you?" Elena finally asked she was fearful that she might be taken advantage of again, Elena started to wipe away the straws of hay that clung to her face and hair as well as her old clothes. Elena was happy that she finally had a companion to talk to.

Riley sat across from Elena with a dazed look on her face, looking somewhat like a deer caught in a cars headlights. With a gentle swallow she'd look directly at the girl across from her, watching as the girl cleared her face before taking a few moments to observe each-other in an almost awkward nature. Staying silent for a good five seconds Riley would compose herself before slowly easing herself closer towards Elena, shuffling across the wooden panelled flooring of the barn but caring not to get too close.

Riley's eyes would flutter a little as she'd yet again swallow before talking. "Uhm.. I'm Riley, Riley Clayton.. uh" She'd say in a somewhat awkward whimper, sounding almost embarrassed or shy in nature. "I'm sorry if this is your barn or something.. I.. I uh.. Egh.. I just really needed somewhere to rest my head." She'd explain with a nervous stutter to her voice, followed with brushing her fringe to the side with her hand.

The sun by this point was slowly rising in full, the heat began to reign down upon the girls through the gaps in the barns ceiling, seems like it was going to be a rather nice day as there almost wasn't a cloud in the sky by this point in time. Riley would ease herself even closer, tilting her head to one side. "Uhm.. I've been alone for some time, uh.. I'm guessing you don't have anywhere to go to either huh?" She'd say with a sensitive and rather innocent tone, lowering her head down towards her feet, feeling her inner anxiety slowly building.

Riley would then watch the girl for a few more moments, raising her head back up towards her before speaking once more. "Uhm.. If you want me to leave I understand." She'd say clearly, her hands gently shaking in a clasped manner in-front of her body. One thing was certain, Riley was the nervous sort, or perhaps it was just with strangers.

Elena tried to brush out as much of the hay out of her hair as best as she could, she hadn't talk to anyone who was her own age since she ran away from home she smiled slightly towards Riley. She could tell that the other girl was nervous or shy, or maybe even both looking over towards her own backpack which was slightly filled with some canned food. "It's nice to meet you Riley.." Elena said softly she could feel the sun beating down on her through the small openings and knew it was going to be a warm day.

"I'm Elena Reese, though if you want you can just call me Ellie for short." Her eyes scanned the barn and noticed Riley's backpack seeing that it was pretty much empty, Elena quickly felt her stomach starting to grumble, she had not eaten anything since noon the day before and Elena could easily see that Riley was hungry as well. Elena shook her head at Riley's comment looking at Riley smiling slightly towards her. "I uhm came in here late last night, I sort of saw you sleeping over there and didn't want to disturb you. I've been alone for so long, its finally nice to talk to someone.." Elena said softly.

Elena would reach over towards her backpack and pulled out a can of beans and handed it towards her, she had another can there and she could tell Riley needed some food and thought of it as a friendly gesture. "Take it, I really don't mind." Elena said as she took out the second can, and dug into her backpack to pull out a swiss army pocket knife she managed to snatch from someone several weeks ago. It took her a bit of time before she finally broke open the lid and handed it to Riley.

"So uhm where are you headed, I honestly have no idea where i'm going.." Elena had no plans on any set destination or where she wanted to go, she felt lonely and hoped that Riley would offer to travel along with her.

Riley glared at Ellie as the precious tin of beans appeared from the backpack, it was rather clear from Riley's immediate expression and reaction was that of genuine shock and relief, upon taking the tin into her hands her green emerald eyes focused downwards to the orange tint of the beans, a small warming smile coming to her face, like she had just discovered buried treasure or gold within a mystical treasure chest. Her eyes emerged from the focus of the beans, arising to face the girl once more, her smile still lingering upon her lips. "Ellie.. E..Elena.. I.. C..Thank you." She'd say with an unsteady and somewhat broken voice filled with emotion.

She'd tilt the metallic can back and towards herself, allowing the beans to slide back into her throat, it was clear that she was rather hungry by this point and had been through a period of very little food, as the girl ate her trust in Ellie grew, beckoning for her to slowly close the gap between herself and the girl, sliding gently across the hay covered wooden flooring of the barn to bring herself directly beside the girl and looking towards her with a gentle tilt of her head.

As the sun began to rise above them, the essence of the day was becoming more apparent, causing Riley to cover her own eyes with a free hand. "So.. Uhm.. Where d..do you come from? How long.. eh.. have you been out here?" She'd ask with her usual nerves before taking a small breath and composing herself. "I uhm, I don't really know where I'm going.. I thought about maybe heading south towards Vegas.. Or heading over the border over yonder towards Utah.." She'd try to explain, clearly sounding like she was just making it up as she went along.

In that last brief moment she allowed her eyes to look over the pretty girl once more, perhaps Riley just met her new best friend she thought, returning her eyes back down towards the beans, digging straight back in for some more.

Ellie leaned back slightly watching Riley's reaction to the can of beans she had just given her, smiling for once in a long while she was really glad to help out someone in need who was in the same position as she was. Running a hand through her hair Ellie started to dig into her own can of beans, closing her eyes as she enjoyed the taste something she hadn't eaten for a full twenty four hours. "You welcome.." Ellie said softly her eyes meeting with Riley's she was really cute, and blushed slightly when Riley moved a bit closer to her but didn't move and allowed her to get a bit closer.

"I was originally from a small town in Pennsylvania.. then after my parents died I moved to Goldfield and then I just couldn't handle things so I just ran away I lost count maybe like two months or something.." Ellie answered sighing softly she didn't want to tell her to much of how her parents died or how she ended up in the barn. Ellie took another large gulp out of the can before setting the can down on the hay covered wood, she didn't have any idea or plans where she wanted to travel to.

"I dont have any specific idea where I want to go from here I might go to Vegas but I dont know yet." Ellie shrugged as she zipped up her backpack and looked at her water bottle that was now about half way empty and handed it to Riley, feeling the heat beating off of her back she needed some water but thought about Riley first.

Riley glared at Ellie with an expression of general interest as the girl explained her story, soon Riley's facial expressions would match the tone of the impending conversation, she couldn't help but feel bad for the girl over losing one of the only thing that was important in her life, while listening quietly Riley began to panic in her own mind, her memories of her abusive parents spiralling inside her mind, quickly bringing flashbacks of traumatic moments and knowing that she would have to briefly acknowledge them to make conversation.

Taking in a small gasp of air and allowing her eyes to focus upon Ellie's once more, she would bring herself to speak. "Pennsylvania? Wow.. Uh.. That's really far away and all, I'm.. Sorry about your parents." She'd put simply and sweetly, offering some attempt of comfort through the simplicities of a small smile. Riley would then think about what she was going to say, she really didn't want to bring up the past and for all she knew so far was that this girl was still a complete stranger to her, with her sudden insecurities building up she'd stutter and freeze up before eventually giving in and explaining slightly. "I.. Ran away from abusive parents.. I.. Uh.. Yeah, that was about a month ago." She'd say before falling completely silent and hoping to drift off to a different topic of conversation.

Riley would watch as Ellie would pass her some water, with a gentle shake of her head she'd pass it back to the girl with a smile. "No, No.. Heh.. I uh, I already have a bottle of water in my pack, you need this more than I do... But eh.. Thank you." She'd say with a smile, letting out a gentle giggle. "So uhm.. I've never been to Vegas.. It's about Three-Four hours away by car?" She'd say with an unsure tone, taking the first package of information that came to her mind.

Riley rarely trusted anybody, but something about this girl made her want to follow her to the edge of the earth.

Ellie smiled softly she nodded slowly as she took another gulp from her water bottle before setting it back into her backpack. "The only thing I don't miss are the cold winters.." Ellie said softly but she remembered the days where she would play in the snow with her mother and father, and how much fun they had together. She felt a small tears building up in her eyes as she remembered her parents and quickly wiped them away meeting Riley's gaze. Ellie never had to deal with abusive parents, just her grandparents who never really paid to much attention to her, and all the girls in her school making fun of her.

"Sorry about what your parents and how they treated you.." Ellie said softly she didn't want to bring any bad memories up for Riley if she didn't want to talk about them. And they did just meet not to long ago and knew it would probably be awkward to bring up a conversation like that to a complete stranger.

"I've never been to Vegas either." Ellie said and remembered she had a map stuffed in her backpack somewhere and quickly dug through it pulling out a few more cans, as well as some old looking clothes that hadn't been washed in weeks. "I sort of stolen this awhile back, just to find out where I wanted to go." Ellie said as she unfolded the map and found Baker on the map. "Since we are going the same direction maybe we could travel together?" Ellie suggested running a hand through her hair blushing slightly she just met this girl and was suggesting that they should go together which was weird and she didn't have anyone else to talk to in a long time. "I mean its if you want to.."

Riley would listen to Ellie about her stories of the cold winters, she couldn't help but smile and let out a gentle giggle in response to her words. "Heh.. Uh.. I. If you were hoping to get away from the cold the best place to go would be California, not Nevada.. It's so cold here at night." She'd say with a small smile, trying to be funny but mindful of perhaps being rude to the girl.

She'd swallow gently, watching as Ellie would reach for her map, she couldn't help but thing how well equipped and prepared she was compared to herself, but then again, it was rather clear that Ellie had been by herself and homeless for far longer than she had. Crawling herself over closer towards Ellie in a slow manner, she'd allow her eyes to glare upon the map, tracing her fingertips along the top of the paper and trying to make sense of the possible directions. "So uhm.. There isn't any rail tracks towards Vegas from here, so you need to hitch a ride along route 50 back towards Ely.. then uhm.. Down south along route 93, then you just stay on that road straight until you get to Highway uhm.. 15? Yeah.. I think that will take around five hours or something..?" She'd say with a gentle cough, tilting her head towards the girl when she asked if they could travel together, her eyes widening slightly.

Riley had only just met this girl, but something about her was alluring and comforting, Riley wanted to stick close to her like she was some form of shiny beacon in the darkness. After-all, going with her was better than remaining all alone by herself with no know-how on how to look after herself. Riley would give a small half smile towards Ellie, rubbing the back of her own neck with a free hand.

"Sure.. Let's go to Vegas." She'd say with a slightly confident manner and a smile on her lips.

Ellie's face quickly lit up when Riley agreed to travel with her to Vegas, finally she would actually have someone to talk to after being alone for such a long time. She laughed softly at Riley's comment knowing how cold the nights in Nevada would get during the nights where she couldn't find any sort of shelter. "Thank you.." Ellie said softly she then looked over the map again, she could see a route that could be a lot quicker then trying to hitch a ride.

"We could take Route 50, like you said before and go down Route 93 and follow that road straight to Caliente." Ellie said pointing to the town on the map, and saw train tracks going through the town. "Then we hitch a ride on a train that leads us to Vegas." Ellie suggested as she started putting her stuff back into her backpack but still kept the map out. Ellie sighed softly and smiled she seemed so sweet and caring she thought as she ran a hand through her hair. Ellie stood up an started dusting herself off from all the dirt that covered her shirt and pants offering a hand for Riley. "What do you think should we go the route you said or go to Caliente and take a train to Vegas?"

Riley would wonder for a moment why Ellie thanked her for coming along with her, perhaps Ellie was just as alone as she was, although Riley did tend to keep most of her sadness hiden from the view of others. Bringing herself up to stand and setting the empty can of beans down on the dusty wooden flooring, she'd wander over towards her backpack, zipping it up and pulling it over her shoulders, looking over towards Ellie as she'd talk about an alternative way of getting to Vegas.

She'd stop for a moment in thought, thinking that perhaps jumping onto a train would be a lot easier than being with their potential driver for more time than was needed, however jumping trains was considered illegal and being caught would bring some serious consequences, as well as being returned to her parents, however, Riley thought that perhaps it was time that she leaped forward and took a brave step.

"Uhm, Yeah sure we could do that I suppose.. If we get lucky there might be a train there that we could jump onto.. M.. Meanwhile let's just try and get a ride, there is an old motel, diner and truck stop in Baker not too far from here, maybe someone in the diner could give us a lift?" She'd ask with a gentle tilt of her head, hoping that Ellie could perhaps be more useful than herself.

Ellie adjusted her backpack over her shoulders looking over at Riley as she started to do the same and suggested going to Baker in order to get a ride from someone there. Which wasn't a bad idea at all she adjusted her hair and started tying it into a messy pony tail. "Works for me, I have a little bit of money to get some things in town maybe a hot meal or something. Before we go and ask for a ride. Lets get going" Ellie said digging into a very old and worn leather wallet, she had about twenty dollars left which was enough for a small meal.

Ellie started to head out of the old barn, and covered her eyes as she could already feel the desert heat over her face remembering she used to travel at night sometimes as well just to cover more ground. Ellie looked over her shoulder at Riley seeing her new friend was starting to follow right behind her. "Sooo what do you want to talk about?" Ellie asked softly as she turned to walk backwards facing Riley, thinking that it would be a good idea to break the ice and since they will be together for awhile. Ellie would watch as the occasional car drove past them, as the breeze picked up right after the car passed them for a second cooling her off somewhat.

CHAPTER 2
DINERS, COWBOYS AND TRAINS
------------------

Riley followed after Ellie with a skip to her step, keeping herself close behind with haste in an attempt to shake off the morning tiredness.
For once Riley was feeling optimistic about everything, she had a friend, a potential plan and a new place to visit, not forgetting the meal that Ellie basically just offered to buy for the two of them, in many ways it was like winning the homeless lottery and Riley was over the moon, which was in many ways rather apparent, considering that each step she was taking had a certain bounce to it, as well as the smug little smile that remained on her lips as she focused her eyes upon Ellie as she walked in reverse, the radiant blue sky gazing down upon them.

Giggling slightly at Ellie's walking antic's and care-free attitude she'd spot the Baker Diner in the distance behind Ellie, adequately named the BarnWood Diner, fitting, although she was no stranger to the diner, considering that she found herself eating out of there during her first days in Baker and remembering the god awful omelette that she ate there, besides the weird looking truckers and local hicks it wasn't too bad.

Focusing back towards Ellie's eyes, walking alongside the road she'd blink softly at her question, rolling her shoulders and letting out a small giggles. "Uuuh, I dunno, favourite music?- Celebrity crushes? Movies? Sports?" She'd ask with an amused look on her face, brushing her hair away from her eyes as the wind from the cars interfered.

As she'd continue to converse with Ellie she'd follow her into the Diner, as usual and expected the Diner was playing god awful 60's music which reminded you of just how old this diner probably was. The place was reasonably busy, but it was rather clear that the two girls were the youngest ones around for miles. Many of the grizzly old men, many of them potentially hunters, truckers, Drug Dealers, Travellers or even Mafia were there, behind the counter was a woman in her 50's, dark brown hair, rather butch and stern, she looked like a mechanic more than anything but Riley knew her as Mary, she owned the diner and on occasion offered free water and left-overs for Riley.

Upon entry Riley would look to Ellie, noticing that several of the older, creepy looking men were eyeing the two of them. "Uh..Let's.. Just Gget something to eat.. then.. not pick the creepiest looking dude in here, okay?" She'd say in a low voice, raising the corner of her mouth with raised eyebrows to show comedic concern. Without trying to bring a whole lot of attention to herself, Mary quickly brought an end to that.

"Riley! I thought I told you, no more free fo-" Mary would shout out before being cut short.

"M..Mary.. Mary.. My friend and I have money, chill." She'd say with a rather embarrassed look on her face, the entire diner taking directly interest and turning heads. Riley would roll her eyes, perching herself down upon the nearest stool and turning to look for Ellie to join next to her.

"Ah.. Right.. Well, pick whatever you want." Mary would say, sliding two menu's over towards the girls as Riley would cover her face, looking rather embarrassed and taking in a deep breath, making it rather apparent that she didn't like attention, turning her head to focus upon Ellie's face, offering a half smile of reassurance. "Yeah.. That's Mary.. She uh.. We have history." She'd say quietly, letting out an awkward giggle before focusing upon the menu.

Ellie smiled watching her new found friend's slight skip to her walk, she started to think about the choice of music that she actually liked which was quiet a bit. "Hmm, I have a lot of favorite music though they are all rock bands way to many to list." Ellie answered the first question before turning back to walking straight again though she slowed down so that they were walking at the same pace now. She ran a hand through her pony tail and blushed slightly thinking about who her celebrity crush was. "I'd probably say that my celebrity crush would be Jennifer Laurence, also shes in my favorite book and movie series." Ellie said rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly, she could see the BarnWood Diner. She remembered walking past the old diner when she walked through a bit of Baker the night before and found herself sleeping in the barn.

"Sports, I could never get into it at all." Ellie answered the last question, when they entered the diner Ellie could see the older and creepy looking men causing her to shiver slightly and wondered if any of them actually had criminal records or something along those lines. Then there was the really old crappy sixties music, hearing the sound of it was already giving her a slight headache.

Her eyes looked up at the only waitress that Riley had pointed out as Mary and the owner of the little diner. Ellie followed behind Riley towards the counter and pulled herself up onto the stool, she could smell the amazing breakfast food that was being cooked on the grill which made her stomach growl even more even though she ate a can of beans just a few minutes earlier.

Ellie couldn't help but giggle, she could tell that Mary and Riley had some sort of history, then Ellie looked at the menu in front of her and started to look through it all. "I bet you both do have a sort of history together." Ellie said softly and sat her backpack down on the floor in between her feet. "So uhm what do you recommend Riley? Since you've eaten here before it seems." Ellie asked turning slightly to look at Riley, she couldn't help but feel slightly uncomfortable as some of the men were staring at the two of them.

Diner Music

Riley observed the menu with fine precision, trying to focus between the god-awful music that was screaming from the jukebox, all she knew was if she was going to pick something now it would have to be good, it wasn't every day that she actually had the money to pick anything she wanted, sure she had beans previously but she was still really hungry, several days without food would do that to you, and the grumbling of her stomach certainly reminded her of that. In-between trying to decide what she would have, the memory of her previous conversation with Ellie returned to her mind, trying not to think too much about her previous memories with Mary, lifting her head up and to the side for a second to observe Ellie. "Heh.. Anyway.. I'd say I'm pretty much the same with the whole music thing, I like Alternative and Indie too, I uh.. Played guitar too." She'd say before swallowed gently, remembering that Ellie's crush was in fact a girl, was she a lesbian? Or.. Something? Upon thinking about it she couldn't get it out of her mind, finding it spiralling around in her mind. "Uh.. Yeah.. She is pretty hot I guess." She'd reply awkwardly, gently rubbing the back of her own neck and obviously being rather nervous and unsure about the whole topic. especially in regard to her own possible sexuality, all Riley knew is that she held some form of attraction to girls, but never went any further than that.

Jolting herself back into focus, she'd look back down towards the menu, coughing softly. "I liked running track at school, but that was about it." She'd say in regards to preferable sports, raising her eyes up towards Mary who so happened to be leaning over towards them, sneakily eaves dropping with a crooked smile on her wrinkles lips. "Are you and your friend ready to order Riley?" She'd ask, her eyes observing over the two girls in turn.

Riley would bite the side of her lip, taking one last look at the menu to confirm her choice before looking up towards Mary. "Okay Uhm.. I'll have the Waffle Sandwich with the Eggs and Bacon Please.. And a cup of coffee too, black." She'd ask with a gentle smile, trying to be as polite as possible before turning her view over towards Ellie to see what she would pick, her eyes silently looking over her, admiring her, in her own way.

Ellie's eyes scanned over the menu as she thought about what she wanted to eat she looked towards Riley, and smiled softly she actually had the same taste of music that she did. "Seems like we have the same taste in music." She said with a grin, Ellie remembered doing track in high school for awhile before running away but she never liked it. "I did track for a little bit while I was in school as well."

Ellie ran a hand through her hair slowly her face turning slightly red when she looked at Riley for a second the girl was pretty cute, she did like girls but she never told anyone about it and she was really nervous as well. Ellie quickly went back to looking at the menu as Riley went to take her order, her eyes looking up at Mary who was listening in on their conversation which made things feel slightly awkward but decided not to say anything about it.

"I'll have the Eggs Benedict." Ellie said looking over the prices they would have just under one dollar left. She then handed Mary her menu. "As well as some coke to drink." She looked over at Riley when she ordered a coffee, and didn't think she would actually like it. Ellie watched as Mary wrote down their order and went off to had it to the cook in the kitchen. Ellie looked at everyone who was enjoying their breakfast then she looked over at Riley. "Sooo.. how should we go about asking about hitching a ride?" Ellie asked she had a few bad experiences hitching a ride with strangers but she got to where she wanted to go safely.
