Those That Walk Among Us...
Since the dawn of civilization, mankind has shared its world with supernatural beings. The relations between humans and spirits vary depending on personal histories, biases, and attitudes. Some spirits live peacefully among humans, even aiding them with their magical powers when the need arises; others seek to prey on unsuspecting men and women, caring only for their own motives. What humans fear most about spirits, though, is their ability to disguise themselves, making them indistinguishable from any human. The grinning shopkeeper you buy your tea from could be the very dragon that just flooded the town in a fit of rage. For centuries, humans lived in fear, trusting only their superstitions to recognize spirits. However, one diligent priest devised a means of having spirits identify themselves. He called it "The Brand" and it took the form of talismans that looked like an ordinary charm or jewelry. When worn by a spirit, certain features would be revealed, showing the world what they were. Perhaps a dragon would have his scales visible across his cheeks, or a kitsune's ears and tail would become visible. Though these brands cannot be removed, they cause no side effects other than making spirits obvious to humans. So, with this tool available the human government issued an ultimatum to all spirits: step forward and reveal yourselves, or become an enemy of humanity. In order to enforce this new law, the government formed a guild of skilled warriors called "Yasuragiha." Located in a fortress in the city of Ayabukuro, this guild is responsible for finding and branding all spirits, and hunting down those who refuse. They also fight malevolent spirits who cause trouble for humans, branded or not. Naturally, the law received resistance on multiple fronts. Although branded spirits are afforded the same legal rights as any human, many refuse to step forward and accept the brand. Whether it be because of a sense of pride, or a legitimate fear of bigoted persecution from the public, many spirits wish to remain in hiding. Likewise, many humans would rather see spirits run out of town and feel the branding laws are not strong enough. Some fear and despise the guild's very existence, and offer open resistance in the hope of taking it down. We hold that revelation through branding benefits both humans and spirits alike, and helps foster mutual trust between the races. We hold that living in hiding or committing hostile acts against any settlements within our sphere of influence is a threat to the peace of the land. We offer an open hand to all spirits who wish to follow our laws; we offer blades of justice to those who refuse. Guild Members: Any human or branded spirit may join the guild. They will be given shared quarters to live in, will have access to all guild amenities, and will receive payment for each completed assignment. Those who fail to complete assignments in a timely fashion will be expelled from the guild. Opinions of productive guild members will be considered when making this decision. Expelled members may never set foot on Yasuragiha soil again. Likewise, any member may leave at any time without penalty, but they may never return. The Council: The council is a committee of 13 senior officials, 7 humans and 6 spirits, who approve of all assignments and manage all guild affairs. The word of any council member is absolute within guild walls, and their orders should be considered those of a military superior. The council also deals with all political matters so that guild members need only focus on their assignments. Assignments: When the council receives word of a spirit in hiding or a hostile spirit posing a threat, they will create an assignment. Assignments are hung on a wall in the main hall, and are accepted on a first come first serve basis. All assignments are given an estimated difficulty rating, and a reward to be split among all participants. The mission is accepted when all participants sign the form and submit it to the council. Guild members are left to work out their teams and attack plans. Higher rewards are offered for peaceful resolutions, but a peaceful outcome is not a requirement. It is considered general etiquette not to take a mission before the whole team is assembled. All assignments are accepted at your own risk. There is a standing assignment for all members: If you find an unbranded spirit, bring it to the guild for branding. Amenities:
All guild members are granted a bed, and a small space to keep their personal effects. All territorial and property disputes are to be resolved among guild members. General etiquette: if it is not yours, don't touch it. The council will not hear any cases regarding living quarter disputes.

The Yasuragiha dining hall is more pragmatic than it is elegant. There is a large area filled with long tables where the guild members may eat. All guild members are entitled to basic rations, but these taste horrible. Members are free to purchase food from any of the fine chefs that have rented out a space in the dining hall for their business. Guild members are expected to treat these chefs with respect, as they have the council's full support and protection.

Yasuragiha has spacious outdoor and indoor training grounds for members to hone their skills. Wooden dummies will be set up as needed. If you break a dummy, a replacement fee will come out of your rewards. Likewise, any damage your techniques cause to the facilities, will be taken out of your rewards. Non-lethal matches are permitted on the training grounds provided that both parties agree on an overseer to referee the fight. Combatants may agree on whatever rules they like, and are free to wager whatever they like. Such matches will be held at your own risk. The council will not hear any disputes involving matches, friendly or otherwise, except in the event of death. It will be assumed that the death is accidental, but the killer will be expelled from the guild.

Yasuragiha has a well kept garden complete with lush plants, beautiful statues, and a flowing stream. Members may come here to meditate or socialize, but it is general etiquette that volume be kept to a minimum here.

Yasuragiha boasts a full library with information on all matters, spiritual or otherwise. Guild members are permitted to take out one book at a time, but are expected to return it in a timely fashion.
And, in the forest outside the guild lies a hidden hospital...
From the outside, it looks like a portal that leads to some stairs but it is actually leading to a long hole. Long enough to make you think your going to die at least. However, it leads to a comfortable mattress that cannot hurt you due to the fact that it is made out of layer and layers of leaves and is enchanted to do no harm. This tree is located in an ancient Kodama forest that no other Kodama's live in other than her. Used to be inhabited by others but they all left when she wouldn't. Pretty much everyone knows about the hospital but they don't know who owns it. All they know is where it is located. Inside of the ancient Kodama tree.

Where she keeps her... Everything. The landing is between her two large bookshelves. It's underground.)She is rich after all. She spent pretty much all of her parents savings for new poison on this room. They still left a lot of more money for other savings so it's fine. Where she lets the animal or person rest. She never sleeps here herself.

A simple but quite nice kitchen that she didn't feel like spending too much money on. Small but extremely practical and has enough space to make a good meal.

Not modern but it would seem that way with all of the walls painted white. The entire room has an extra powerful protection potion that she used to affect the entire room and people/animals other than herself. If they ever want to just relax after they have waken up. A nice room indeed but it has nothing personal in it and only a simple and boring white couch in the back center.

She spent the least amount of money on this room. A contrast to every other room. A simple room that has a futon which is put away unless it is night and a small table in the middle of the room during the day.. If she's not in it, it looks like no one lives inside of the room.

Located right in the room next to the blacksmith room, her own private library which holds all of her books that she has collected during her life. She appreciates books and believes that there is no such thing as a "bad book". They were simply not meant for you to read. Even though it's a forest and often takes them in. They love to curl up with her books. This ones name is Mi-mii.

The Assignment Board
Ashifili's Assignments
Serial killings by a man-eating spirit that has not been spotted by any others. The victims are all wealthy people with varying degrees of political influence, but there's no sign of struggle, no sign of them being transported elsewhere, and ultimately, it seems like they went to the slums of their own volition before being attacked and dying.

A noble's daughter is afflicted with a disease of the mind, and he wishes for the Guild to find a Kirin and get its fluids to heal his daughter. Of course, all Kirin, due to their peaceful, non-flesh eating nature and their interest in seclusion, have basically disappeared once the Branding was introduced, so it's sorta hard, finding one. And by sorta, it's more specific to say VERY hard.

An odd, winged lizard has recently made its home on a mountain, displacing spirits and animals alike. Go investigate, figure out what it is, and get it to stop causing any more trouble. Brand it too, because, you know, it's not branded and all.
Takashi's Assignments
A new tea shop has opened up in Ayabukuro, and is unusually successful. It is so successful, in fact, that it is pulling business away from other established shops in the area. We have received numerous complaints from the citizens that the staff at the shop are all spirits in disguise. Some people have also expressed concerns that the tea may be part of a hypnotic spell to get customers to return. Investigate the tea shop, identify any spirits, and brand (or execute) them. You will be issued Talismans for the job. Also, determine if the tea has any hypnotic properties and bring an end to those properties if that is the case.

A village near the mountains has reported destructive flooding from the Yan Tzu river. Normally, we would not be concerned with such affairs, but this river is the home of a dragon by the same name. Yan Tzu is a very old spirit, and has lived peacefully by the village for a long time, but now the villagers are blaming the floods on him rather than natural circumstances. Find out what is causing the floods and, if the cause is not natural, put a stop to it.
