As Reshiram believes solely in truth, brightness and kindness, Mia often portrays an extremely warm and loving aura about her. Even the saddest of people can find some contentment in her presence.
As for her less latent powers, she has the power of flight - two white, ethereal wings sprouting from her back allowing her to take to the skies.
Additionally, she can summon small flames of fire of various colours - not harmful, unless she chooses to use a move.
Held item: Luck Incense
Appearance:
This is usually what Mia looks like - standing at 5'5 with curvy yet slim figure, heart shaped face, and long hair of a startling white colour. Her eyes are a deep blue - unless she begins using her powers, in which the entire eye including the sclera will glow a light blue.
As for clothing style, she enjoys wearing white dresses - although does often alternate between more casual clothing such as jeans, skirts, and t-shirts; it's rare for her to wear dark colours, unless she's dressing up nice.
Personality:
At heart, Mia is an extremely sweet girl and curious girl; having missed out on a lot of things throughout her childhood, she finds joy and wonder in the smallest of things. However, she is also quite childish, and also naive. Despite her illness previously bringing about a lot of paranoid thoughts, Mia now trusts far too easily. Although this can gain her friends with plenty of ease, it could also get her into trouble, if it weren’t for her Pokemon looking after her.
She may be naive, but one shouldn’t assume that this makes her weak – she is immensely protective of her Pokemon, or for things she cares about. She will not stand for the bullying of the weak, nor for blatant liars and conmen. This could potentially be Reshiram’s influence on her, but either way, it would have to be significant to get a rise in temper out of her.
Her curiosity knows no bounds – she is drawn to the unknown, and to the mysterious. This often brings her towards the Dark, much to Reshiram’s dislike, but she finds something the complete opposite of her truly captivating. She is somewhat obsessive in her curiosity – if her interest is piqued by something, she will often spend weeks studying about it, just to expand her knowledge. As she never had a real education when she was younger, reading books like these were one of the few ways she could teach herself things.
Backstory:
Mia was born into a fairly rich family – with parent’s successful and with prestigious careers, they fully expected their children to follow their paths, in the hopes of increasing the family fortune, and to give their children the best chance in life. And Mia was happy to do this, because she too wished to be successful like her Mother and Father. However, at the age of 11, things became a whole lot harder as she began displaying strange behaviour. After a few months of her speaking to voices that weren’t there, and paranoid delusions, a Doctor diagnosed her with Paranoid Schizophrenia. This was a setback, for both her and her parents, but they were happy to give drug treatments and therapy to deal with this, but her condition worsened. New symptoms made themselves known, mostly shown in sufferers of Bipolar Depression, with manic stages lasting for weeks, only to be followed by a Depression that seemed to cast a gloom over the entire household. Her diagnosis was updated to something called Schizoaffective Disorder, and Mia was interred into a mental hospital to receive aid.
Although scared at first, as any 11 year old would be in this situation, the setting was a comfortable one. The nurses were kind, the Doctor’s tried to make her laugh before treating her – and even the treatments weren’t as bad as she was led to believe – some of the drugs made her sick, and if she was particularly violent they’d have to sedate her, but it wasn’t too bad. Also, her family visited her every day.
Except, after a while, it was every other day. She could understand that – her parents had important jobs, and four other children to look after. Of course they couldn’t visit her every day. Then, the visits from her parents became weekly. And then fortnightly. And then monthly. The only person visiting her regularly was her twin brother, but after a year or so, he stopped coming too. In a letter, he explained that their parents didn’t want him distracted from his school work by visiting her all the time, so they forbade him to visit without one or both of them present.
After this, Mia grew cold towards her parents. The few times they visited she was stand-offish with them, not answering many of their questions. Following a few awkward visitations, she only ever saw her family on special events, such as her birthday, or Christmas. Due to this, it was very rare for her to leave the hospital. Sometimes the Nurses took her and a few others to the beach or nearby park, but they were few and far between – most of her time was spent in the hospital, feeling more and more lonely every day.
But then, one day when she was 14, the best thing happened – the Doctor’s brought in some Pokémon to stay with the children. It was a trial run – an experiment, to see if the children could bond with the Pokemon and perhaps provide some therapeutic care to them. Naturally, all of the Pokemon brought in were small, cute, fluffy – things that children wouldn’t be frightened of. Mia found herself drawn to one in particular – a haughty looking Vulpix, which was sat quite primly away from the excited children and Pokemon. She didn’t seem too pleased when Mia picked her up, but from that day, the pair were inseparable.
Fast forward a few years, and Mia was still in the mental hospital – now 17 years old, and still stuck in that place. Her symptoms were still there, but mostly controlled enough for her to function most of the time. Her Vulpix, Scarlet, still remained with her, keeping her company as she tried to entertain herself in the dull setting she found herself in. Painting and drawing was her favourite pastime, along with reading or listening to any kind of written work. A Nurse that she had grown close with would often sit and read books or poems while Mia painted. It was a simple life, but it was the only one she knew. Memories of her childhood when not afflicted with her Disorders were a blurry vision; ones she did not like to dwell on, as it upset her. Upset that she couldn’t remember them fully, and upset that she knew she’d never have a life like that again...
That is, until the Plague hit.
When Reshiram came to her, Mia assumed he was just another of her voices – except he was new. He wasn’t telling her to do awful things either... he promised to help. And so, when the nurses found her the next day, they were astounded to find that she was... normal.
Or, at least, different to how she had been. Her symptoms had vanished overnight, as had any pigment of colour in her hair. Previously a dark brown, her hair was snowy white, and like everything else around her, had come to life. Even her fellow patients seemed to get happier in her presence.
While the Doctors and Nurses tried to wrap their heads around what had happened, it took a few weeks for her to be released from the hospital, back into the care of her parents, who had suddenly become rather interested in her once again upon hearing the news of her Avatar status. But home was an alien place to her – her siblings had all grown up at this point and become unrecognizable, with her twin away at school, she had no friends other than Scarlet. Her parents attempted to teach her the things she’d lost in her life at hospital, but she was not interested. Life at home was as regimented as it was at the hospital; strict mealtimes, unmoving and bland dietary plans, bedtimes and times to be awoken... it wasn’t the freedom she so desired.
Therefore, at the age of 18, she received her inheritance from her parents (Now with her stable mental state, they were happy to give it to her), and shocked them immensely by announcing that she was moving out. The life they had laid out for her was not a life for an Avatar, but one of a puppet they wished to control. They wept, they threatened disownment, they did everything to try and make her stay. But she saw through their tears, and departed less than a week after her 18th birthday.
This new-found freedom was euphoric, but terrifying; she had no idea how to do certain things, and everything was just so overwhelming. But both Reshiram and Scarlet (Who had evolved into a Ninetales, following Mia’s release from hospital) aided her through it, and after a year or so of wandering, has decided to finally meet up with the people she hopes will become her new family.
