Ruling body Official name: The Narix Republic Common name: The Narix Government: Democracy Insignia and designations:

Home system:

Lux (G-class star)
Anuket (telluric planet - 1 moon)
Akheton (telluric planet)
Aurius (telluric planet - 4 moons)
Khafre (Gas giant - 3 moons)
Khafre Belt (asteroid belt)
Inhabited planet(s): Aurius, the Narix homeworld and one of two permanently inhabited bodies in the system. It has three continents that form The Republic. It also features a large volcano protruding from the ocean. This island serves as a place where those who commit so-called “greater crimes” are exiled. Civilian assets:

Galea Station - a complex of shipyards and habitation stations orbiting Aurius.
Inventum Outpost - a research outpost orbiting Anuket.
Vigilate Outpost - a small station orbiting the star, used to study it.
Conflatorio Ore Processing Facility - a complex of refineries and shipyards orbiting Khafre.
Various mining outposts throughout the Khafre Belt
Race Name: Narix Population and growth: 9.6 billion, 1.3 % increase per year Morphology: Narix stand about 190 cm on average. Their heads resemble bald felines. They have three fingers plus an opposable thumb and three toes, both with short claws. Their skin color ranges from fallow to russet. Their eyes have slit-shaped, usually orange or dark red iris, although dark green or blue can also be found. Their eyes slightly glow in dark. Anatomy: Narix body is built for short-term fast movement in higher gravity. Their muscle tissue is dense, providing not only protection, but also superb strength. A much bigger problem than their inability to keep up intensive physical activity for a long time is their oversensitivity to pain, to the point of Narix usually passing out from pain in case of injury. Their sight and hearing are their primary senses, in contrast with their pathetic sense of smell. Although they are carnivorous, fruit or vegetables aren’t directly dangerous to them. They can, however, clog up their digestive tract, presenting them with a serious health hazard. Life expectancy is about 130 years for both genders, the oldest recorded died at 162 years of age. They need 19% Oxygen to survive and about four hours of sleep. Narix gestation period lasts 90 – 120 days and they give birth to 1-2 live children. 3 or more fetuses can be a serious hazard to the female’s health. They mature at the age of 16. History First written records begun the Age of Dark. The Narix race was held back by religion and a caste system. It ended shortly after the arrival of the 4th moon, succeeded by the Age of Light, An age of both advancements in technology and frequent territorial wars. Most Narix legends date to this age. Ended by the Declaration of Gender Equality (DGE) and the first automatic firearms. The Age of Empires didn’t see the end, but merely a decrease of wars. During this age, Aurius was ruled by many states, both large and small. This age was ended by the Unification War, a thirteen-year conflict, preceded by political unification of multiple states under the Republic of Aersia, lead by Ammon Amasis at the time. Though the popular leader didn’t live to see the end of the war, his successor finished what he started. The drawn-out war between the Union and the last remaining states was ended by the first deployment of a space-faring warship, the NC-01 Amasis missile cruiser, bringing the Unified Age. The NS Amasis was repurposed as an orbital weapons platform following the Exile Rebellion. It now lies in geostationary orbit above the Exile Island. Culture The Narix military isn’t just an armed force, it‘s an important part of Narix society. All Narix must serve in the military for five years after finishing school, the military police is also the civic police, so is the fire department. Both active soldiers and veterans alike are treated with respect and receive various benefits, such as reduced taxes. Many of their past times also have something to do with military, from games to sports. One of the largest sporting events of the year are two one week long competitions between various units, from infantry through armored to space. Contrary to that, religion is almost nonexistent now with the exception of various cults and small-scale religions on the edge of society. The most radical ones are actively sought and eliminated by the military and claiming to be religious is like begging to be looked down upon. Technology Relic: Shortly after The Unification War, the Narix discovered a derelict early warning vessel adrift in space. Engineers replaced its burned out engines and provisionally patched the numerous hull breaches. After the crippled vessel was flown to the Galea Station, still under construction at the time, not only did they discover the ancient language, but also its capabilities and decided to keep it, rather than risk breaking the equipment trying to reverse-engineer it. Base elements: Carbon, Titanium, Argon, Tungsten Power generation: Narix use Supercritical water reactors as their main power source. Solar and wind power is also common, especially in suburbs or smaller towns. Starship propulsion: Narix use Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket (VASIMR) engines for both main engines and maneuvering/braking thrusters. It uses radio waves to ionize and heat argon gas, and magnetic fields to accelerate the resulting plasma to generate thrust. FTL: Narix learned about subspace from the captured EWS ship, but just like its engines, it’s jump drive was completely destroyed at the time of its discovery. Their drives, both inter and intrasystem, are based on whatever information the cruiser held, although obviously inferior to the ancient ones. Military technology Armor: Titanium-Tungsten composite with limited self-sealing capabilities. Shielding: Narix don’t have any shields. Sensors: Narix use Hi-res video and IR cameras for passive detection and radar or lidar for active detection and target acquisition. Communications: Narix use traveling-wave tube transmitters. While not necessary, comm buoys are sometimes deployed to improve quality and reduce lag of the transmission. Usage of subspace for long-range communications is fairly new to them, occasionally presenting them with problems. Computing: Narix use semiconductor (VLSI integrated circuits) computers. While not anything special, it is enough for their needs. They haven’t been able, or willing for the matter, to create a well functioning AI. The only exceptions are their destroyers which feature a simple VI to assist the crew. Weapons: Narix fighters use a combination of railguns coupled with guided or dumb fire missiles. Smaller capital ships are equipped with railguns, as are Narix troops, armored vehicles and sea-faring vessels. Larger spaceships use torpedo launchers in addition to them. Military Ground forces: 499 200 000 Ship classes:

Fighter (space superiority, escort and interception)
Bomber (attacking capital ships)
Dropship (troop and small cargo transport)
Corvette (small vessels meant to protect larger ships from bombers and fighters)
Frigate (up armored and up gunned corvettes, also used for patrol duties)
Cruiser (main workhorse, has a fighter bay)
Destroyer (heavy hitter with thick armor and a lot of fighters and dropships to deploy its marines)
Carrier (large ships with cruiser armor and only CIWS for protection, but a massive Complement of fighters and bombers.)
