[@IcePezz], in defense of [@KazeXDZ], most of those are indeed cantrips and pulled from what seems to be the cleric and wizard listing for 0th level spells. No less, while trained in a longsword I am under the impression the character in question is not considered an expert or a master at it - just competent enough to defend themselves and actually fight with the weapon.

I cannot speak for the writer, but my understanding is, is that his strong suit is the reality that he is a werewolf. Depending on the canon as well, there are indeed good elven born werewolves, both natural and afflicted. I think it is more just an issue of lack of specificity than a question of power, but this is my opinion.
