The hair on the back of Cadence's neck rose but she gripped Kaira's wrist tighter as they ran. There were too many scents at once. Cadence lead her down a series of narrow alleys before pausing. She looked up and found the fire escape and yanked down the cold, rusted ladder. She pushed Kaira up. "Go go go!" She urged and then climbed after her, kicking off her heels and as the climbed she kicked out the rungs as well. The gold in her eyes glowed, highlighter her irises and the night lightened up and sharpened.
