Past the door, stairs led to what the two could only assume was the cellar they were supposed to clear. The descent was long and as they progressed the aesthetics of the environment changed. The chiseled stone slabs which put together the hall they were in previously were replaced by rough uneven ones. Reaching the bottom of the stairs they were faced with another enormous corridor extending to their right. At the end of it another similar hallways extended in both directions. However the most noteworthy elements were two troll like creatures rambling around the area. They had to be at least twice the size of an average person. The fact that one of their arms was over-sized and took the shape of a gigantic claw, probably the just over half the size of their body, was clear indication of the plagues affliction. Most curious of things was how they looked almost identical. If Willo and Jonathan had learning anything over the course of their training, it was how end result of a plague infection was never the same, even if the infected species was. The two beasts were still unaware of their presence, a fact which Lazarus nonchalantly changed as he spoke. “Single-handedly defeating such a beast would no doubt prove difficult, but not impossible. Two of them even more so. I wish to see how well the two of you can work together, despite having just met.” The two sickened trolls turned to face them and roared in unison, also revealing sharp teeth coated in black sludge. Lazarus glanced at them, took a few steps back and crossed his arms. Willo knew Lazarus would only be an observant to this battle, having seen this posture all too often.
The light in front of Alex vanished together with Larion and was quickly replaced by a blur of murky colors. He felt a few pats on his cheek followed by a faint voice. “Ah, there we go.” Alexander quickly realized it was Joshua standing over him. Not in all good shape either. His attire was visibly beat-up and what seemed like traces of blood ran down from his forehead all the way to his chin. Larion laid on the ground next to him, slightly trembling, his consciousness still clung to Alexanders mind, and dearly so. This required a considerable amount of concentration, however if Alexander let go now Larion would be forever lost to him. At least the pain was no longer so intense. “No time to squabble. We should wake up Imgor. Actually you are going to do that. I must see if I can catch up to the old friend I was talking about back at the hideout. Once you’re at the castle we’ll also see to Larion, yes? He doesn’t seem well.” Joshua explained as he helped Alexender up to his feet and prepared to leave.
