The note was written in a hurry, by someone who didn't exactly have time to create full sentences, apparently.

There was a hastily scrawled thing next to it. Perhaps it represented a door, but it was impossible to be sure.

"HELL[s]O[/s] [s]MEAT[/s]NEW APE," the note began, it was in an oddly specific font... On what looked to be the same kind of paper he brought with him... In fact, the ink ribbon on his typewriter was a little dry.

"YOUR [s]PER[/s]PRESENCE IS D[s]D[/s]EMANDED BY CAERBOG. YOU [s]BL[/s]MUST TRANSCEND FURTHER. HEAD [s]CHEW[/s]TO THE NORTH STATUE IN FRONT OF THE HOTE[s]L[/s]L. THERE YOU[s]N[/s] WILL FIND THE STATUE OF [s]M[/s]CAERBOG IN PLACE OF THE OLD [s]BLASPHEMOUS[/s] ONE.[s]BURN[/s]GET OUT OF [s]BURN[/s] THE ROOM BEFORE THE SCRATCHY [s]HERETIC[/s]MAN GETS IN. CAERBOG [s]EXPECTS[/s]ANTICIPATES YOUR AR[s]R[/s]RIVAL [s]ONLY[/s] IN DUE TIME. IF YOU CANNOT GET TO THE STATUE DO NOT BE AFRAID. CAERBOG WILL FIND YOU NEW APE. [s]CAERBOG ALWAYS FINDS YOU.[/s]"

It ended with a splotch. Someone with thin fingers must have tried to change the ink ribbon and gave up shortly afterward. At least whoever did this wasn't rude enough to use your wite-out without permission too.
