@Monkeypants

Reading your OOC post I was quite intrigued... the prospect of a possible breakthrough would see basically the entire qulseoc commision for the investigation of wo space knocking your door down. Something to consider for future posts. A collab of some sort perhaps?

YOU ARE TRESPASSING INTO HALLOWED TERRITORY

THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING

LEAVE NOW OR BE PURGED

Gotta admit, the plot point that @Monkeypants just brought up is interesting. I'd like to see it developed further.

I think I must flesh out the Harmony's sheet further to add that the Wo are very uncommon trading partners, and they don't buy finished goods, only rare raw materials. They are so isolationist that there are many extranet forums dedicated to finding information about them, and writing up creepypasta too, of course.

The Galactic Council is the first time that the Wo have voluntarily and so openly stepped out of their space to interact with other empires. You could say that only now is the Harmony establishing formal diplomatic relations with the rest of the Galaxy. Prior exchanges have been inconsequential or covert in nature.

Edit: Updated the sheet with a dedicated Diplomatic Relations section that also outlines the Harmony's international espionage operations.

Well, as @Monkeypants noted, people that tried going into wo space have been disappearing for quite some time. I'd imagine this is going to give some rough edges, whether or not the wo ever officially recognize their responsibility for these disappearances. After all, the summary execution of unsuspecting explorers generally does not make for a good first contact.

Hey @Natsucooldude, I just read the Quelsoc's upgraded sheet and I'm finding myself really liking them. A race of tentacle monsters who hold science and merit - as opposed to anime girls - above all, and who have integrated eugenics fully into their society. Your dedicated Military section also reminded me to add one to the Wo's sheet already. I think I'll get to that first, and then type up another IC post.

I've been wondering - what is the Technocracy's stance on the Kurt Civil War? Since the Kurtiye are our RP's equivalent of today's Syria, their stance and actions regarding the whole thing could have some pretty substantial diplomatic consequences.

@Fabulous Knight's intro post was really well done, and it made me want to get involved more with his nation. Maybe I'll be writing three sections next time I post an IC: one for the Council, one for the crashed starship, and the last for the Civil War.

First of all, thank you for the feedback, it quite helps me keep up my motivation.

Secondly, on the topic of the kurt civil war, I have yet to acquire the necesarry nuances from @Fabulous Knight and would like to hear some clarificaiton on the matters I will adress following this sentence. From what I know right now the young kurts faction represents more traditional values amended by democracy whereas the ozgerssary are advocating for a full-scale societal revolution that will see the empire completely turned on its head. I currently see myself supporting the ozgersarry more because the qulseoc would be opposed to democracy due to its assumption that all citizens should have equal suffrage regardless of individual qualification. Again though, I don't know a lot of nuances that could very well influence my decision, and am thus awaiting knight's further fleshing out of the two factions.

edit: also, may I ask when you intend to make your enxt IC post? I intend to make a post soon adressing your council envoy and would like to know whether I have enough time versus holding off on it for some more time.

@NatsucooldudeThe Young Kurts are humanist (sapientist), liberal, democratic nationalists. They believe in strong, equal state ruled by law. Justice and order are prised above all else; it is no coincidence that the Young Kurts are overwhelmingly Ascendant. Extremists fight for universal suffrage. Far more popular moderates want to install a land-based voting system. You don't want the wrong sort of person telling you how to run the country, after all. And some -- some are just Nationalists. They don't pine for the Mutlaginate; they were ruled by Liszka slaves, for God's sake. They want Kurtish domination. They are popular with the peasant Kurts that aren't with the Ozgers. Either way, the Young Kurts are made up of the rich, land-owning classes -- majority Kurts. Ethnically opposed to the slave races. [These guys are a mixture of Turkish Sipahi and Polish Szchlata, and are backed by many peasant Turks and the rich Persian/Arab merchant families]

The Ozgerssaries are united. They are organised. They are soldiers.

And they want land. The Young Kurts have land. As soldiers, they know only one way to get what they want. And they are soldiers. Their hierarchy is forced into meritocracy. It must be. They could not have won, otherwise. It is partially this that made the Ozgers realise that no democratic state would care for them. So they went further. No state, no property -- no Ascendancy, either. Low church heretics, all. The peasant will own the land he farms, the tools he farms with, the maxivine he reaps. But this is the conflict. Peasants. They are peasants. Not workers, not city-dwellers. Many Ozgers support the plight of factory workers, and many factory workers fight with Ozger guns. But others hate them. The insect peasants hate the (seemingly) wealthy Kurt urbanites, while the Kurt factory-workers fear the loss of their whole livelihood. [These guys are based on the German Peasant Rebels, Hussites, Kurds/Greeks/Armenians and some Persians/Arabs].

, I had an idea of a pmc getting interested in your conflict. Would certain groups be opposed to foreign aid?

And regarding the Wo, I too am curious as to how far this plot could go. And I have so many ideas too!! And all without really blaming the Wo for actually doing it (even though its obvious an AI signal pwned that ship.)

I found that idea so fun.. You'll love the black box post XD

This would be a very fascinating development and yeah, should things go in the general direction that they are currently... That sounds like a blast!

Lets just hope the jalaryians dont interfere seeing as the Wo quite literally hate them XD

@Monkeypants Probably won't happen for a while, the jalaryians got their hands tied dealing with the civil war and the yet to be mentioned(till now that is :P ) insurrections going on in bits of their border regions. Plus the fact the jalaryians can't tell if the Wo even exist :P

Is that correct? @SillyGoy

(Although word might spread via jalaryians corporations operating in the Union.)

@Sigma

If the green borders running most of the Sagittarius Arm are the Ascendancy, then I guess it's perfectly reasonable that many of them hold the Wo to be mere myths.

@SillyGoy

I'd imagine Wo technology to be distinct aesthetically and functionally to that of the other races, so while there's no problem with an arms dealer, the weapons that he sells are a tougher question. The Harmony clearly does not want to hand out technology in bulk - or at least, their latest technology, but I suppose they could sell their earlier stealth-related equipment - useful for assassinations! - and cooperate with local Kurt scientists and lords to develop their own completely automated industry (how unpopular would this be among the peasants?) with obsolete Wo fabricators as a template. In the mid-term, it would mean a substantial increase in local arms production for the benefactor.

They could even ask the Wo to build starships for them, provided that they are native designs and not too big, although internal systems could be enhanced by their technology. I'd say that they could ask for a light cruiser at most. They don't have to pay materially for these orders, as the Harmony actively learns of other empires' technologies from the blueprints and as they make them. Construction of such ships won't take more than a solar year. As for their delivery, they could be transported via wormhole then towed very discreetly to a rendezvous agreed upon by the dealer and the benefactor.

As for the dealer's appearance, he will be completely mechanical in body, looking like a large metal skeleton with four arms and two small but unblinking eyes that glow eerily a steady blue. Since this is a space opera - maybe he could even wear a black cloak for a super mysterious fantastical effect. Mainly working in the shadows, he can also interface wirelessly with other machines to a reasonable degree. His lifelines are a couple of small probes within Kurt space maintaining a tiny wormhole to relay stations within the Harmony. In the event these mind tethers are cut, his physical body will self-destruct.

So you could say that the Kurtiye is Boshin War-era Japan, and the Harmony is the United Kingdom. Is this alright with you?

With that being said, I kind of want to make an IC post, but I have no idea what to write about till Friday, since that's when the Council's starting up.

God damn. That took way longer that I thought to write up, and even then it's unfinished.

I've added a dedicated Military Section to the Harmony's sheet. Right now it's just unit types for the Army, Air Force and Voidforce. Tactics and doctrine will be added later once I fill in the Voidforce section.
