So lemme just say: It's really fucking annoying when someone holds the door open for you but you're too far away to make it within what you think is a reasonable time and it's all awkward and shit. Especially when you're a heaping mass of blubber like me, because I end up running and I'm really ducking self conscious about my body. I can just sort of feel everyone in the vicinity thinking "Hey, look at lardasse's belly jiggling". So basically, don't hold a door open for someone far away. Have fun trying to judge that, and forever thinking that everyone you hold a door open for hates you on the inside.@Keyguyperson

I only hold the door open if I get there a couple feet before them.

I've been holding doors open for precisely that reason for months now. I find that I like making people feel uncomfortable in ways nobody can call me out on without making everyone more uncomfortable.

You know what, if I can complain about anything its that my roommmate's ex, has fucking been here since yesterday all with no warning, beyond staying her welcome, and show no ounce of respect for me. And shes still fucking here...I'm about to mad...>.> (I don't even want to leave my room and I thought I was out of my parents house for years now...clearly not that they care, I waaas going to cut my roommate slack but I feel they both thrive on fucking negative attention. >.<)

Okay. The following may be a touchy subject. But... here we go. Recent events have brought this to the forefront of my attention.

Putting this in a hider because, well, touchy subject(s). Don't feel obligated to read this.

One thing that personally bugs me and has been bugging me a lot lately actually has to do with internet culture. Namely: the hyper-liberal side of the web which isn't actually liberal at all.

Let me be clear: I'm pretty sure folks would classify me as liberal and as a socialist. I feel like civil rights hasn't won yet, that more work has to be done to bring real societal equality in my country (the U.S.A.), and that life in the information age provides us with an unparalleled ability to create movements on the fly. For this specific purpose, this is a good thing... BUT...

There are all sorts of people on the web who take things in a direction that boggles me. For instance, I think it's perfectly fair to ask that people be "fat positive," or at least that people learn to not cajole people for their body differences (though kids are naturally going to not listen; kids are awful). But there's a difference between positivism and, say, expecting someone to be attracted to a body shape they're not attracted to. Besides the health risks extreme body weights on either side of the spectrum involve, there's no reason a person ought to be forced to claim attraction to all people of all sizes. It's not discrimination: it's a personal choice about who is going to be your life partner.

People who change their sexual identity on a weekly basis are another culprit here. If you start by claiming to be bi, then asexual, then gray asexual, then pansexual all within the course of a few months, chances are I won't take you very seriously. Chances are a lot of people won't take you very seriously. And if you're expecting people around you to know the particulars of these changes in your identity as you go change them... Well, it can get annoying.

And the reason all of this upsets me is we have real issues concerning these above topics and more. Dude, minorities are getting shot by police still in situations where they haven't done anything criminal. That hasn't stopped. The Supreme Court allows gay marriage now, but that could potentially be repealed, and it certainly isn't the end of the fight for gay rights. And women ARE being sexually taken advantage of in ways that people don't recognize is... well, illegal, like getting a woman drunk and then having sex with her while she can't make decisions with a clear head. But spreading fake statistics about this, or claiming that sitting next to a woman on the bus and accidentally touching them with your leg is rape only distracts the world at large from actual cases of trauma and abuse.

That's the crux of the issue: internet culture has a habit of blowing up little things and calling them big issues, and it's angering people who aren't on the side of change and distracting them from the reality of horrible things happening around us. And there are real issues concerning things like fat positivity. Television and Hollywood have always painted this terrible depiction of women that demands they be pretty and skinny and photoshopped and sexy. That is a dangerous depiction that has warped our perception of beauty in America. That's what we should be attacking in a quest for change, not individuals' sexual preferences for one body weight or another.

Why are almost all scholarships based on financial need? Just because my parents make enough money that they could contribute a little bit to my edication does not mean that they will. So where does that leave people like me? Most scholarships require financial need to be eligible, and a lot of the ones that don't are exclusively for women or exclusively for minorities. The few I can apply for I don't win, because they're basically like playing the lottery in terms of odds. Seriously. It is absolutely aggravating and I cannot stand it.

I suppose it's a matter of triaging - there is only so much money going to scholarships, so they figure people who's parents couldn't contribute are in more need than you. This is a case I'd say blame the fact we have a pay-to-play economy.

There are a ton of weirdos here and I bought a tomahawk instead of a katana so it's basically the same.

Okay I'm going off-topic but... yeah.

I'm so tired of people talking about me and saying, "Wow, you're so accomplished for your age" or "Wow, you did really well for your age."

Seriously people. I'm more than just my age, why is that always the noteworthy part of me? Why can't you just leave it at "Congrats, you did so well!" Why does there always have to be the conditional for your age? I could understand it if I was just mediocre compared to the older kids in my classes/races/competitions, but really, I'm as good or better than the best of my academic peers. If it was a seventeen- or eighteen-year-old in my place, they'd be told "Wow, you're doing really well!" and yet, because I'm fourteen, they add the qualifier and say, "You're doing really well, for your age."

I also rather wish judgement on age wasn't so prominent. One always hears about how the young folks don't have any respect but who's supposed to teach them respect? If they're constantly underestimated or categorized because they happen to have been born later by sheer chance, then wouldn't that cause some resentment to the whole "respect your elders" deal? Part of why the qualifier arises is because elders can't stand to think that the youngsters are doing better than they themselves.

Keep in mind that all those 'for your age' remarks are probably not coming from a bad place. Eventually you'll have to accept that some people will always just see your age and nothing else. Anyways, I hope it won't bother you as much in the future. Just keep on swimmin' m'lady! 

I really hate punk-ass kids who are emotional leeches and attention-baiters. But then I get really mad at myself because I can't bring myself to tell them to stop coming to me about their problems. I feel like if I did, they would throw themselves off a bridge lmao. Call me Rain the Impromptu Therapist who desperately-needs-her-own-therapist.

It's not that bad, unless you count melting to your ship in a fire (has happened, USS Stark.) I'm looking at going tanker so I can just be a rocket magnet. Plus I'm not about that walking everywhere life.
