Gender Identifies Female Appearance
Before Spectra became Spectra, there was a girl who was called Annie. Annie didn't stand out amongst other girls but at the same time she was, to her own eyes anyway, fetching in a way no other was. She stood at a generous five foot seven (she would say five foot eight just to make herself that much taller) and was slender due to a heavily moderated and strict dietary plan and fitness regimen. Everything from her attire, consisting mainly of generic 'local business' type shirts and casual pants (with shorts being her favorite if only because she found them far easier to move around in), to her accessories were chosen for her. The only input she had was how she styled her hair, her curly brown hair that was as comforting as it was stylish. Some days she would fashion it into a ponytail. Other days...braids were in order. Her hair grew long but it remained stylish to a fault.

Spectra no longer possesses a normal body, instead being a being that, while certainly humanoid in shape, seems to be more ethereal in appearance. Gone is the epidermis, replaced instead by a sort of...crystalline shape. Where once there was skin there is now a translucent form, a form that takes in and changes color like a fiber optic holiday tree. The features present on a human exist. Spectra has fingers and toes, a physical 'body' that is just...crystalline. Her eyes change along with the color of her body, but there are no pupils or irises. Just glowing sockets serving as eyes. For the sake of those around her, Spectra wears clothing, though she prefers to wear items such as robes...things that she can drape over herself. In Spectra's mind, the most difficult aspect to deal with in regards to her current form is the fact that her hair is no longer the beautiful mess of brown curls but instead thin strands that can never be styled and always remain straight. To some, the sight of her thin, ropey hair changing colors could be seen as amusing or even enjoyable...but Spectra does so miss her curls.
Personality Once the initial shock wore off...if indeed it truly was, Spectra took her new form about as well as one could reasonably expect. Hers is a curious mind, though a more introspective sort of curiosity. She doesn't question the why of things believing that simply asking 'why' when you don't understand something is no way to learn. Spectra would love to be a social butterfly but understands that her appearance makes that difficult. Sure, people might be accepting of heroes from various walks of life...but she has seen the looks people give her...the awkward way in which they aren't sure how to speak to her...it's easier for the common citizen to make sense of superpowered sorts that at least can look human from the right angle or light...but Spectra doesn't have that luxury unless she wears clothing over every part of her body. It's hard for her to maintain a positive outlook, and it's because of her appearance that she constantly puts on a braver face than the truth of the situation. Spectra will never be the first one to leap into action but neither will she be the one to hesitate and wrestle with doubt; she'd just prefer to take a moment to consider every option rather than rushing in. Spectra will often be the first one to LEAVE the scene of action, however, if only because civilians have a tendency to flood the area after the fact and flashing cameras and easily swayed normals drag up her own feelings of insecurity. Skills Spectra can speak three languages, with English being her native tongue. She speaks fluent Italian and French. She was in the midst of learning Mandarin Chinese before everything went colorful. Because she can no longer do it herself, she has become something of a stylist for anyone who seeks a little bit of pizzazz for their hair. Powers Spectra is able to Refract Light and Focus the colors of the spectral colors found in visible light. Her body changes its color naturally but when focused, typically in a high stress or danger scenario, it becomes one singular color. She comes off as something close to a mood ring because of this, and when she is red it's quite possible that she's not having a wonderful day. Her powers of refraction come in the form of photon beams. These beams are constantly likened to laser beams, but don't let her catch you calling them that around her. A particularly hot source of light will increase the heat of her photon, but even without the extra boost, she can melt basic things such as rubber with little effort. Sturdier objects do require either longer periods of prolonged exposure or the added boost of heated lights. While not invulnerable by any means, her new body has what could be considered 'Diamond Skin'. In that while she can and will get roughed up and scratched...it takes considerable effort to truly break her limbs or parts of her body. Equipment N/A History 'Annie' was raised in captivity...though she was not aware of that fact for the longest time. Her parents had no love for their child to the point where they didn't really consider her their child at all but rather a child of science. 'Annie' was born to be nothing more than a test subject. Two scientists involved in the project volunteered their time in order to give birth to 'Annie' and not long after she was born she was placed into the experiment. The experiment was to test the effects of long term isolation to someone that had no idea they were isolated at all. 'Annie' lived what could be described as a 'normal' upbringing. Her 'parents' were there to give her food, though she never did pick up that her parents were actually different researchers who pulled the short straw. The technology was such that 'Annie' had all the elements of a well lived life though everything was so...off. She was home-schooled and every so often other children were shuffled in to give 'Annie' the illusion of friendship and stability. For the early years this existence proved satisfactory...but eventually 'Annie' began to ask questions. Why couldn't she ever leave her house? Why did she have to follow the same routine day after day? Why did her mother sound different every day? Why didn't she feel as if her 'friends' were truly her friends? A long series of 'why' and never a satisfactory answer. To this day 'Annie' is not sure what caused the Incident, only that she could hear klaxons and panicked. When she opened to front door, the door she was always forbidden from opening, she realized that her 'home' was little more than a set piece. She stepped out into the larger, yet still confining space just in time for the first flashes of bright light. And the hot, hot heat that was the last thing she felt on her skin. And then came colors. The colors were beautiful. The colors were brief. For a single flash, 'Annie' saw the colors blend together like a melting rainbow...and then they were gone. When 'Annie' awoke she was nowhere near her false home. She didn't know where she was, in fact, but it didn't take long before she heard the shrieking and the panicked people thinking her to be some new terrible being. The first sign that she had changed came when she spoke and heard a more lilting tone to her voice. By the time she was aware of what she now looked like, she was already stressing about how she could survive in the world...a world she was now isolated from even more than when she was literally isolated. Fortunately, she was found by people who could understand and empathize with her plight. Titans Go!
