Name Albert Alphonse Kazam Alias The Great and Powerful Kazam! (Or just Kazam, although Al himself insists on the full name.) Age 18 Gender Male Appearance

That's only Al's casual dress. His "professional" uniform consists of a dress shirt and vest combination worn under a royal blue high-collar cloak cut specifically to have triangular "teeth" at the hem, black dress pants tucked into shin-high white boots, a pair of white formal gloves and the pièce de résistance, a blue tricorn hat decorated with a big white feather for extra flair. Personality Al is very charismatic, almost overly so. Most of the time it's part of the act, after all it's rather difficult to dazzle an audience if the performer has a gloomy attitude. Other times, though, he can come off as overly confident if not outright cocky. His confidence is great for putting on a show, but otherwise makes him difficult to work closely with, close personal friends tend to find his overly-dramatic confidence to be rather insufferable at times. His insistence on being called The Great and Powerful Kazam can - and has - rub people the wrong way. Still, if you can get past the bluster and theatrics, you'll find there's an overall good kid somewhere in there. Al fights crime and injustice as much as the next superhero after all, he just does it with a bit of a self-inflated ego. Skills Al has learned a wide variety of tricks and illusions accomplished merely by sleight of hand. Apart from that, he likes to believe he is good at convincing people to agree with him through sheer charisma. He's also done his share of dabbling into occult lore and mysticism, if only because such knowledge is practically required for someone like him. Al has also become a practiced swordsman out of necessity due to the nature of his magic-wielding. Finally, he has learned to speak quite fluently in the famous Backward Speech of Zatara and Zatanna, as any self-respecting sorcerer would if only out of respect for and in tribute to their greatness. Powers Al is of Homo Magi descent, at least on his father's side anyway. As such, he possesses a certain talent for using real magic. As with most spell-casters, a specific focus is generally required before Al can successfully throw out magic spells. For most, the focus is incantations, Zatanna's backward speech being the most famous example. For Al, while he can use backward speech for incantations, and often does so, he also uses a physical object as a focus as well. That object is an antique sword, an enchanted one that is his family's heirloom. While Magic generally allows one to accomplish a wide variety of feats, there are more specific spells designed for more specialty purposes. The ones Al himself knows are as follows:
"Drows a emoceb!" - A transmutation spell that transforms the wand into its sword form. "Dnaw a emoceb!" - A transmutation spell that transforms the sword into its wand form. "Rednuht fo edalb!" - The sword becomes magically infused with an electric charge, giving it an unnatural sharpness that allows it cleanly cut through objects it should otherwise be unable to. Concentration is required to hold the charge, so it will be dispelled by breaking Al's concentration or by outright knocking him unconscious. "Llab gninthgil! Mrof ekat!" - Conjures and then hurls a ball of electricity. Upon impact with a target, the lightning jumps from the target and spreads its shock to those immediately surrounding it at a maximum radius of ten feet. "Evoba morf rednuht!" - Calls a bolt of lightning to strike from above. Becomes even more powerful and effective during a natural rain storm. "Sdnuow esolc!" - A healing incantation for closing and healing minor injuries and flesh wounds. More serious injuries such as dismemberment require an incantation of much higher level and thus will not be effected by this one.
Equipment Al's most precious possession is his family sword. It's enchanted and thus capable of changing its appearance between being a sword and a wand. Much of Al's magic is channeled through it in some form, and so without it his spells become significantly weaker or more difficult to maintain. History Much of Al's family history is muddled and forgotten, but it has always possessed a talent for magic. This is because, at least on his father's side of the family tree, Al's family contains members of the Homo Magi race, essentially humans with a natural affinity for spell-casting. In fact, Al isn't even the first to be called the Great Kazam. That honor goes to his great grandfather, Al simply taking the title for himself when he inherited the family sword. Al was an only child, and in a way that was a blessing for him. According to the Kazam family traditions, only one child per generation could learn magic. In households with more than one child, both would be taught magic until adulthood, at which point it was customary for the siblings to pit their magical mastery against one another, the winner being awarded the sword and the losers stripped of their ability to use magic in order to prevent them from becoming a threat. Since he was an only child, Al was spared from this custom as he had no siblings to compete against. His childhood normal, or at least as normal as could be when magic was involved, Al grew up being praised for his talents, mostly by his mother. While his father was around early on to teach him the basics of magic, he vanished when Al was 14 years old. Whether he died or simply transported himself to some other dimension, none could say. Supposedly he was researching something but he always kept that a secret, so no one in the family actually knew what it was he was working on at the time of his disappearance. Still only a rookie spell-caster, Al demanded the sword be given to him so he could finally master his gifts and go searching for his father, but was denied. He was still too young, and so the family sword went to Al's depowered uncle, who despite no longer possessing magic was able to complete his training and, four years later, finally gave Al the family sword. In his search, Al began using his talents to fight crime, something none in his family had ever considered doing before. Al was almost entirely inspired by the famous Zatanna in his decision to become a crime fighter, even self-learning her famous Backward Speech for his own use. In these activities, Al encountered others around his age who also resolved to fight crime. Deciding that his talent would certainly be invaluable to them, Al reached out to them and essentially invited himself into their team. Other He still keeps in contact with his uncle, reaching out to him if a magical problem proves too difficult for him to solve on his own. Titans GO!
