Senri Nazumi

As the girl replied to Nazumi in Russian, Nazumi tilted her head, in confusion, before she then apologised for using Russian and told her how she couldn't fully control it. "No worries. You see, I am also..." her words got cut off, as a number of adults appeared. One man, known as 'The Director' spoke to them all. The speech went right over her head, as she didn't really care too much. But not long into the speech, a demonstration was prepared. A girl with green hair named Nozomi had taken to the stage, to fight a moonman.

Seeing the moonman, Nazumi clenched her fist. Controlling herself. With her armaments, it was something she could stop quite easily, from what she has experimented. It appeared as though Nozomi had some difficulties. But not because she was incapable, but because she couldn't fight in her top form. It was an observation Nazumi made, but wasn't quite sure of it. After Nozomi had defeated the moonman using coins as her weapon, the director spoke again. It was time to make a choice, stay and fight, or leave and live. It was quite simple for Nazumi really. She really had nothing left, although she was alive, and she appreciates it, she considers that her life should of ended that day. The life she has now, was something given to her, and for that, she will use it to give back.

As the crowd of other girls left, Nazumi approached the front, where a number of other girls went. She turned to see the green haired girl, clenching her shaking hands. Fear? Or is it the rebound? Or is it something else... Nazumi wondered. She called the side effects of ability usage "rebound". She wasn't sure if there was an official name for it or not.

At the front, the girl she had spoken to, the one with white hair, had asked the director about Nozomi, her capabilities. Nozomi had answered her back. It looked like the two weren't going to be able to get along. Maybe even a rivalry could occur. But that was only Nazumi's point of view. Once the time limit elapsed, it was time for bed it seemed. There was no food, no shower, just bed. And that was a really bad time for Nazumi, since they took all of her equipment.

Nazumi sat on her bed. She had been optimistic, but it seemed the any of the other girls she attempted to speak to almost avoided her. It was odd, but it must of been because of her limbs. Maybe they thought that Nazumi was "special" because she was able to keep what they assumed to be gloves and boots or armor of sorts. It wasn't like that though. She sighed a little, but smiled to herself again. She could still appreciate these limbs she was given/made. Without them, she wouldn't be able to do anything.

As she was caught in her own thoughts she could still hear some people talking. Among the voices, she could hear humming. She looked around, only to spot the white haired girl. Nazumi approached her, and spoke softly, "That's a nice song. I haven't heard it before." She waited for a moment for her to reply, if she decided to. "I'm not sure if you caught my name earlier, but I'm Senri Nazumi, and you are?" Nazumi waited for a name, before continuing. "So about earlier, my ability also keeps leaking. It's something I can't help with. Ha ha ha... She gives a dry laugh to try to lighten the conversation, before an arc, zapping the bed's metal frame, occurs. It isn't a trivial distance of a normal static shock."Um... kind of like that ... Lots of electrons and such." She says, before pausing and letting the white haired girl speak, if she chooses to. Afterwards, Nazumi speaks again, "Um... so, you see, I'd like to ask for a small favor if you wouldn't mind." Nazumi finally reached the point of talking to her, putting her hands together, in a begging motion.

'Broccoli Head'

How much does it hurt? To use your powers and be treated with the drugs I mean…how much does it hurt?”

The words broke Nozomi out of a seemingly deep trance but it took her a good half a minute to realize that the words were actually being directed towards her and not to somebody in her vicinity. Her whole body took a collective breath inward before releasing like a tensed cord slowly unraveling and stretching back out letting the silence last for a period of time that could almost be considered uncomfortable. Only then did she move her head with something akin to a flop as she went from looking at the ceiling to looking at the person who had asked her the question tilting her head slightly more backwards , hair of green messing about and falling haphazardly across her face loose strands falling across her eyes. Nozomi did not make any movements to adjust the hair but instead squinted slightly as to peer at the girl who had asked the question. What was with the white hair today?, she wondered as she gazed at the other pale girl her own girls eyes flickering over her form taking in details and drawing her own conclusions. She appeared slightly older than Nozomi even though her own fifteen years were often hidden behind the age found in her eyes and general way of carrying herself, but this girl despite being older seemed shriveled like the last flower in autumn, pale eyes holding a cool... loneliness to them. Unlike the other one though she seemed sincere if a bit blunt in her words. Nozomi let out another outake of breath through pursed lips producing a barely audible whistle tone as she considered how to respond.

"It's killing me." She finally explained to the girl in the most blasé manner possible her deep green eyes dark and emotionless showing neither fear nor regret from the statement. She saw no real harm in telling the truth not now at least, they were all on the same suicide mission together now these ones had at least proven that they had the grit to do the honorable thing. Then surprisingly enough she give a small inkling of a smile towards the girl as she went on. "I'm a prototype though, they expect me to die. You won't die though unless of course you're an idiot and push yourself too much."

With a surprise motion from her stationary body her head cocked to the left as if she had suddenly remembered something. "But why did you stay white hair #2 if you are worried about the pain? Why stay when you can just leave and go back to your family or whatever?"

It had been a long day for Etsuko. Swept out of her home with nary a minute to comfort her terrified sister, stuck in armored vehicles with a bunch of kids who seemed terrified out of their wits by what had just happened, taken to a facility whose exterior looked like that of Babel, lined up and put through several examinations, stripped of her belongings, taken to get some rest, shuttled off to a very visible demonstration, and then returned to get more sleep afterwards. It had been quite the day, with a hodgepodge of characters, some feel, some awe, and quite a bit of uncertainty.

Honestly though, she was fine with it. She had wanted to join the military, to avenge her father and to fight for the survival of humanity against the Moonmen. If being here meant that she could do what had been done in that demonstration, then so much the better. Her father would have been proud to see where she was now, and what she would become.

If there was only one regret that she had, it was her sister. With what the Director had said, she could barely imagine how that would impact her sister, the devastation and anguish that Miyako would feel if she found out that something had happened to her, and that they were separated forever. She understood the necessity, but that didn't make it any easier for her, and it wouldn't make it easier for her sister, who couldn't know the truth.

Sitting on her bed, a smile graced her lips as she imagined Miyako's face, the good memories that they had together sweeping through her mind as she relaxed in her standard issue uniform, which she wore with a comfort that some people didn't seem like they shared. "Don't worry sis," she said to herself in an almost wistful tone. "I'll be back for you." It might take years, and untold suffering, but she would come back for Miyako, that much she swore.

It seemed that the people around her were already getting to know each other, which came as no real surprise. They were in the same boat now. They were supposed to be sleeping, of course, but she wasn't worried about that. She could work on little sleep, so she'd get to it when she felt like it. For now, she simply did her best to get a read on the room and the various people in her class. This was goin to be interesting.

~Reika Kuroke~

If Reika was offended by Nozomi’s blunt manner of speech, she didn’t show it. Instead she merely nodded, as if confirming what she seemed to have pieced together all along. Nobody who lived like this had to have a peaceful lifestyle. It was yet more insurance that all of them would be facing nothing but more pain. At least they would suffer together.

“I’m not expected to die? I…wouldn’t be too sure of that,” Reika said, eyes flicking away as she instinctively clenched her arm. Still, the other girl’s smile did give her slight encouragement and she appreciated the gesture. The pale girl gave Nozomi a look, as if to ask for permission, before she took a seat and sat beside her.

“White Hair #2? Odd…my name’s Kuroke Reika. And I wasn’t worried. Merely curious. You seemed to handle yourself just fine despite the grievous amounts of pain you must be going through right now. As for me, I’m not as luxurious as some of the girls here today.”

Yes, Reika had chosen to remain for a number of reasons. But perhaps the biggest was the possibility and hope that these researchers would be able to…fix her. Regardless of some grand purpose she was supposed to be fulfilling in serving her country, she’d rather die than continue living with her power.

“As for your second question….I don’t have one. A family I mean. I lost everything a while ago so I’ve been alone with my thoughts and my…special traits for some time,” Reika said with a matter of fact tone.
