I am not too sure what to think about this at the moment, though I guess I will miss Bioshock as a series. I can't see Ken Levin's 15 man team making another Bioshock. What I do know is I will certainly be angry later as this is one of my favorite series that is not a first or second party IP. I know Bioshock Infinite was not as good as the first one but still the developers built memorable characters, back stories and environments. So what are your thoughts on this?

Bioshock was pretty garbage.

Nothing of value was lost

Thanks for contributing.

Anyway, I think it was about time for Bioshock to call it. Other then a HD remake of the first one and maybe collector's bundle, there wasn't really anything left for them to do without ruining the series. On the bright side, most of those employees are going right back to the industry.

Bioshock 1 and Bioshock Infinite called to very different crowds/people.

Were largely separate stories (although in the same world) and from what I understand Bioshock 2 is the first but worse.
So it could of worked as separate stories, but at the same time it's big tale and world was ending.

Nothing screamed for a sequel or continuation of that series.
But seeing the company itself fall, who could of went on to make other great games?
That does suck.

I heard 2K have the rights for Bioshock now, can't remember where I saw or heard it though. Despite what people say I enjoyed Bioshock 2 even if the game was short and the multiplayer was unnecessary. I enjoyed being in the shoes of the Big Daddy known as Delta and Sigma if I remember the latter correctly.

Bioshock 2 crashed on me and erased like 2 hours of progress of sister-mining, so I quit. But it was fun for a little bit.

Knowing how game producers are these days, I have doubts the series is dead.

But it would be for the best if it was.

Sad news. BioShock's one of the best games I've played, combat was fun, it rewarded attention to detail, and the plot was smart.

They'll make a BioShock Infinite 2 or a BioShock 3, maybe both together. I suspect there'll be some retconning or details ignored.

When I heard the news I was upset, my favorite series. I even have a bioshock roleplay going on right now. I feel for the very large team that was built up at Irrational, even though they are hosting a "recruiting day" in hopes that those employees can find work elsewhere, it would suck to be a part of such a successful franchise and then one year after the last game release you are told you are being laid off...

The Burial at Sea: Episode Two is supposed to wrap up the entire series "leaving the player satisfied with walking away." Since 2K now owns the rights to Bioshock they may make an attempt at another installment but without the original team I think it will be difficult to make anything that will even come close to half as good as the original.

They did Bioshock 2 so maybe they could do the same but drop the multiplayer, make the story longer and of course let you back track. In some ways I wonder what spin Gearbox would give it?
