Zim stood in line with everybody else, awaiting his turn to be read. When it did finally get to him, it wasn't nearly as bad as he anticipated. "Sir," Was all he replied with a nod. Zero could have argued why. He could have said that he felt it was the best tactical decision. He could have explained how his own frame left him at a disadvantage against Zeus, and that liberating Rooney and his frame was the better tactical decision because at least Jaeger was equipped with a weapon that provided the range needed to deal with Zeus. It was true, however, that the result may have ended up the same whether Zim had freed Jaeger then, or if he had taken another moment to deal with Mr. Spikey before he turned his attention to the Rose. But he didn't. He didn't because he knew when it was time to speak, and when it wasn't. Unlike some of the children in the ranks, he had held a job before. You didn't talk back to the boss and offer and explanation that wasn't asked for. Lorenzo was not a fool, and Zim suspected he wasn't half as crazy as he lead on. Lorenzo dissected every bodies actions, he knew exactly what was going on, and why. There was no reason to explain himself. If his motives were unclear, the Executive Officer would have asked him what he had done it for, but he didn't. So Zero didn't take the time to explain. Zim, instead, waited for Lorenzo to deal with everybody elses questions and name who was in command. As he waited, he realized that he did, in fact, have a question. "Sir, if I may?" He waited to be acknowledged. Once he was, he continued, "During this training mission I discovered that Black Stars greatest weakness, beyond it's pilot, sir, is a general lack of versatility, and more problematic, has no range to speak of. I wonder if I might be able to requisition some equipment that might assist in granting greater versatility, or at least help me close the gap between myself and my target?"
