Form the moment they where picked up by the choppers Katya had little idea how the battle went. While aware they had taken "casualty's" she didn't know how many exactly. A fail part she became very aware of as the chopper rose into the sky. The sight of destroyed and badly damaged mech's laid out. While she couldn't see how badly damaged the other Frame's where due to the distance. But even at a distance many of the Frames she could see looked like they had seen much better days. On the trip back to the base Katya sat next to Zero feeling a little more comfortable around him. But remained silent replaying the battle over in her head over and over. Only now that there was some quite did her mind start to process the events that had transpired. But it didn't get very long to do so as before she knew it the helicopter touched down at the base and the team was lead to the briefing hall and lined up. What would happen next didn't come as to much as a surprise given how the battlefield looked, although Katya did see the whole thing as slightly unfair given they had just been thrown into battle with no real direction and fed misinformation meant to breed distrust and competition. Most units would have had a temporary leader assigned for the battle before a more permanent one was assigned. But that was doing it by the book something Lorenzo apparently didn't have to do. But even if Katya didn't like it she had learned that simply didn't matter and had to simply bare with it even if it meant the mock battle was pretty much a shit storm for them and now there where getting a dressing down for the poor performance. When it was here turn Katya was able to do nothing then other then agree with the old man, even if she didn't want to or didn't like it said out in front of the others. But he did also mention that her staying back to help out Lora was a commendable action. "Yes sir. Thank you sir." she said in response automaticity like a drone following its programming. When Lorenzo moved onto Lora Katya felt a pang of relief as her turn was over and thought it could have been a lot worse. Even if he did point out she lost her focus which was true he pointed out the fact she had helped another something he did have to do. "I guess the old man is trying to be at least a little nice." she thought as she listened to Lorenzo dress down the remaining pilots of the squad. Finding the old man was really hard on Rooney, simply telling him to go bash his head into a wall. When he was done dressing down everyone Katya felt another pang of relief followed by confusion when he mentioned they earned a parfait at the cafeteria. "Another food item I've never heard of. Goes to show home is really limited on what we get to eat." she thought before noticing the others had started to ask questions. Making her think she had one she wanted to ask one that had been playing on her mind since she saw the wrecked mech strewn across the battlefield. "Sir I have a question. I understand killing is the very nature of our job. But why make us kill those other Cadets? If you had the capacity to disable our Frames why not do it with the others?" she said trying to keep her tone respectful, aware the question by some XO's the question might be considered questioning there authority. But Katya wanted to know why and this was also a good why to see what type of XO the old man was. Hearing the two of the other mention new equipment for there Frames made her think of the request for an improvement to Caretaker that her former commanding officer had forwarded with her. But Katya didn't feel like pushing her luck and asking about it. It would be reviewed at some point if she asked about it or not.
