When I was explaining this RP to a friend some months ago, I summed the concept up as, "It'll start out like a normal RP, compelling in all the usual ways with enough of a premise on its own, and them BAM, I'll hit them with something huge and devastating."
In my original conceptions the players would lose their OWN country (or planet--hadn't decided on the genre yet), but I decided this would be too much of a loss and it might hinder the story. Instead, having one player from Vicenna (which was never my intention, but I'm glad it happened that way) will help feelings of empathy. And one character's grief won't hold anything back.
I don't consider this a plot twist. This is just the beginning.
