Everything was happening so fast, one of her rescuers moving over and bandaging the wound as he reassured her that he wasn’t going to leave her. She watched him as he focused on her leg, she got the impression that he meant what he said about not wanting to leave her even as he shot her a brief apprehensive glance. As another gunshot rang out, the sound echoing down the street one of the several Blood Army figures that had just emerged crashed to the ground. Charlotte tried to stand but again she was unable to put any pressure on the leg, though fortunately the man who had patched up her leg wasted little time in hoisting her up into his arms as they began to move. Initially she recoiled at the contact and a powerful instinct to struggle and fight against him overcame her but with great effort she pushed it aside as with a glance behind them she could see several heavily armoured figures making their way up the street dashing from cover to cover. She hoped that whoever these saviours of hers were they had some kind of plan or at the very least had somewhere to run to, the prospect of being pursued by the Blood Army was not a pleasant one at all. Her mind burning with questions but she held her tongue as her heart pounded in her chest and clutched her arms tightly as Jake carried her towards the still idol vehicle with the note clutched in his hand.
