[@Obscene Symphony] ooh I've heard it before but never tried to learn it. For reference, I'm in two bands, one of which only plays pieces that were written at least 40 years ago, or have some special significance to the director. The other band struggles with any pieces that are above a 2.0 difficulty. I really wanted to do Molly on the Shore, (I think it's by Percy Grainger?) for festival this year. Because omg that clarinet solo in the beginning (yes I'm a narcissistic butt who wanted to get the glory of being a soloist with the band in front of a panel of judges). But then the director listened to it and said... "Well the first 30 seconds of it would be good but do you not think that's a little too ambitious for everyone else?" But I really can't complain. This year (If we're even going to festival, I dunno if we are) I do still get a solo. The flute solo (Which none of the flutes can even name the notes of, let alone PLAY) on Amparito Roca by Jaime Texidor. That thing goes sooo freaking high and is super-super exposed. D:
