| In-Depth Appearance |There's quite a bit about Polly that eludes the senses, drives in some kind of false security with her smaller frame and just slightly average height of 5'6". That's all lithe, agile muscles and a powerhouse of a body packed into that less than intimidating frame. That doesn't stop Polly from giving off a look that could very well kill - and some people like to say it has. From a first glance, Polly looks like the kinda girl that could give off a cheeky one-liner and hop away giving you the finger and, well, that's not entirely true, but also somewhat accurate. She's more than versed in social etiquette, it's just her choice not to actually use any skills shes acquired. So, yeah, she'll probably pop off a cheeky one-liner, but she's more than likely going to stare at you until you leave than leave herself.
And yeah, that girl kind of gives off a killer vibe. It's less intimidating as it is stand-offish. People are less inclined to interact with her because she seems like she'd say a few mean things. But, there's also that potential that she could very well step over that line because, if anyone's seen Polly in action, she can very well and very easily put someone in a sleeper hold. If anything, Polly's an underestimated powerhouse and she's more than likely to crack someone's nose than give them the time of day. At least, that's what a lotta kids tend to say, anyway.
In terms of attire, Polly keeps things simplistic and minimalist with flowing garments that breathe easy. Things that hang over her shoulders, but also keep tight enough that they don't get in the way. Her father likes to think she's preparing for a fight, or something and she always retorts with, "Exactly," before shucking on a pair of flexible tights or leggings and slipping into boots or sneakers. She's not the type of girl to go all out fancy - though, honestly, she does like the feeling of a dress or a skirt hanging neatly off her body. As long as it's not freezing and the dress is at least touching the ground. Polly, despite being partial to practical shoes, can easily rock a heel if she needs to. People don't know it, but that minimalist style doesn't means she can't clean up well. She's just not prone to extravagant displays; dresses and skirts can be as minimal as she well pleases.
| Scent |There's this sweet hint of coconut that wafts whenever Polly's around; it gains a particularly strong aroma when the wind breezes through her hair.
| Personality |♦ Short/Brusque ♦ 'Brave' ♦ Strong-Willed ♦ Stoic ♦
Something about Polly stands out and not in the way that has her popular with the other kids or makes her unique, or any of that other crap people spew. Polly just seems like she doesn't really belong anywhere while simultaneously planting her foot firmly and saying otherwise. Maybe that's just her way of denying anyone leeway or doubt when they oppose her position. Honestly, not many people do.
While Polly has an undeniable outsider air to her, she's also the master at giving precise looks that have a language all their own. Tends to be why people don't like her, or at least, don't like being near her. She's got a distinct bubble around her that not many people seem to pop, like if she went through a crowd in the cafeteria, they wouldn't think twice before parting and acting as if she hadn't just stomped her way through. Of course, that's not to say she would - Polly's not rude, nor does she ever see herself as intimidating - but it proves as a great example of how people seemed distanced from her. Like she keeps them at arms length without either her and them ever saying a word otherwise. Honestly, she's fine with that - that's how the world perceives her, that's fine by her.
That attitude often leaves Polly rather short with people. Her responses are clipped with little to no room for interpretation. If she says something, chances are it's as straightforward as she can possibly make it. Polly isn't the type to beat around the bush - if she sees an opportunity, she's going to seize it. It'll probably be by the throat, but, hey, at least she took what she came for.
That being said, however, Polly's definitely not the type of person you come to looking for answers. Regardless of whether or not she has them, chances are, she's not the type of individual to just give them away. The girl is honest and forthcoming, but that doesn't mean she's willing to hand everyone a cheat sheet to 'Who The Fuck is Penelope Ripley?' Her nature not to trust people and to stick to her guns has left her with little regrets - things she knows she could have prevented.
Regrets, however, tend to be something Polly has deeply set on her shoulders. It's also why people consider her brave, just because she's willing to not give a shit about her well being, that paints a vivid picture of some kind of heroine. She'll go down with a fight, but the thing is, she's willing to start that fight in the first place.

| Hobbies |If anything could be considered a hobby for Polly, it'd probably be resting. Everything this girl does is done to the absolute extreme and it's kind of exhausting just looking at her. Most of it centers around physical activity, with a few fields of study she's particularly keen at. She's always trained herself extensively, but mainly in forms of CQC, most of which had been cultivated from her mother. Polly can pack a mean ass punch.
However, her father, being more inclined to technological sciences, introduced Polly to the world of programming. She's not the best, but she's slowly learning more than just the basics. Honestly, it's a god send because she has no idea what to do with her life outside of high school and this seems to be the absolute best option. It helps that she enjoys tinkering with computers and software.
| History |There's honestly not a lot of her life back in Hong Kong that Polly's father ever lets her in on. Maybe that's for the best, or worse - she doesn't particularly know, as of yet. As a teenager, her mind automatically assumes it would better her to know. However, Polly's a very self-aware girl and tends to realize her own mistakes fairly quickly. This was her father she's talking about; no one, outside of herself, knows what's best for her aside from her dad. What more, Polly's dad has always been an undeniably smart man, if a little out of the box - that's what she loves about him.
So, Polly doesn't remember much outside of coming to America and knowing nothing but the hard press of her father's hand in hers. She always wondered that if she let go, would he have crumbled and blown away in the hot, damp air of Los Angeles? As a kid, Polly couldn't understand the look on his face nor perceive of their situation beyond 'It was bad.' Now, though, with a brighter mind and a keener eye, Polly could practically feel the fear and the desperation, the whole feeling of just breaking apart. Not that Polly ever asks him about it; she can sometimes see that far off look in his glazed eyes when he thinks he's alone in the morning.
Growing up with a single father, moving from state to state should have been hard and it should have affected Polly in some form. In a way it did. Polly acted less dependent on others, more protective of herself and what she held as secrets. Not having many friends, despite it worrying her father in the first few years of middle school, didn't affect Polly all too much. She preferred the solitude over prying eyes and or just the general company of people. It didn't matter much to her what other thought, as long as she could achieve her own goals.
Surprisingly enough, or unsurprising - really, her father should have known - Polly did as much digging into her parents' past as possibly. Her mother had always been a mystery in her life, something her father never quite let on enough for her to put all the pieces together. He gave her enough pieces as a child to get the corners, but never the grit, never the middle of the picture. So, Polly found those herself. When she did, however, that all blew everything she'd ever known about her life, about what her father told her, out of the water. Sure, she was still Penelope Ripley, but what she and her parents had been through and everything that made up their past before her, sent her reeling for more answers to questions it arose.
She wanted the entire picture. After a long discussion with her dad where she'd won out in the argument, he sat her down and told the story from experience. Rather than tattered clippings and records that didn't give as much personal detail as she'd have liked, her father allowed her to experience vicariously the troubles they'd gone through.
That, in itself, kind of changed her mind about a lot of things. Changed what she thought about the world and her own life. And... well... possibly encouraged a new career choice for herself, whether she liked it or not.
| Family |Donovan Ripley | Father | (44)The only thing evident about Donovan Ripley is probably his great love for computers and biology, enough to become a biology teacher in Red Falls, Pennsylvania. The more sinister dealings of his past scientific endeavors have all been pushed away, aside from one instance where he'd been lauded for his discovery of a certain specimen of algae off the coast, south of Shangai and its new medicinal purposes. Other than that, he's got a daughter now and lives in the United States, mourning for his dead wife.
Lijuan Tse | Mother; Deceased | (45)Not a lot is covered on Lijuan. All that's really known is her birth in the Sichuan Province in China. After her move to Hong Kong, nothing is really said or has serviced on the internet about her. Most records are usually under lock and key by the Chinese Government.
