’Well, ‘least he said somethin’ more original than Kujo. Does that make me Wheedon Scott then?’ the officer muses as he goes to take a seat at the table Marlene had picked out. If he had looked at it close enough when they had first come into the cafe he would have realized it was the exact same table Dr. Edwards had been seated at just moments before. The waiter comes back and gives him his cup of coffee and Cash immediately grabs the mug to take a swig, swallowing a mouthful of lukewarm, ancient coffee. “S’good. Thanks.” This kid looked sort of familiar. Cash squints at him, trying to remember where he know him from. Even though he’d been in Red Lake almost an entire year now, he still had problems remembering the student’s names after he met them. It didn’t help that it seemed like this little town was made up of mostly high schoolers, somehow. ’...Oh right. This is that Elwood boy, the one that graffitied dicks all over the mayor’s house in neon pink.’ The older man recalls, stifling a chuckle by taking another drink of coffee. That had actually been pretty funny. Completely illegal, but hilarious none the less. "So what will it be officer?" Elwood asks, giving some sort of faux salute that has Cash scowling again. “Dammit kid, knock that shit off,” the older man grumbles, but there’s no real heat to it. Cash was sure the teenager was funny enough most of the time, but he was too tired from being up all morning to be much in the mood for all that nonsense. “Just toast. And two slices of bacon,” he starts, before tagging on a “Please,” at the end to show he meant no ill will. A brunette girl walks in and begins to banter with the twins while another girl starts strumming softly at her acoustic guitar, crooning out the lyrics sweetly. Marlene’s ears twitch and she scrambles to her feet quickly, ready to bound over to the teenager, but Cash puts a hand on her back to still her. A lot of business owners didn’t mind him bringing her inside since she was a police dog, but that didn’t mean the officer would just let her run amuck and do whatever she pleased. “Sit,” he tells the dog, giving her a pat when she follows the command, albeit reluctantly. Then they settle in to wait for their order, Cash tapping his foot idly along with the melody.
