An middle aged man and his wife sat in the cab talking for a few moments as the younger lady hopped out the side to fill up the truck. Alexandria popped the gas cap on the truck and wandered over to the pump, pressing the diesel button and taking a hold of the pump. With a squeeze she began filling the truck back up with fuel, idly glancing around at her surroundings. The town was fairly busy with cars filling the streets with a moderate level of traffic, however it wasn’t slowed to a crawl and she expected to be out of the town in ten minutes easily. A minute or two later, she felt the handle shudder as the pump cut off the fuel. She placed the nozzle back onto the pump and took a pair of twenties from her wallet and walked towards the building. She grabbed a pepsi from the cooler and placed it on the counter before looking to the cashier “Pump number four, the truck.” She slid the money towards him and took her pepsi, calling back as she left “Keep the change as a tip.” She walked back out into the hot August weather and was just about to get back into the truck when she spotted it. A canary yellow Jeep Wrangler parked across the street with a sign saying For Sale, 1500$. She stopped midway up the steps and opened the door, peeking her head in “Mom, dad….you know how you had asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I never really wanted anything?” Her parents nodded suspiciously. “Weeelllll, I found what I want. I’ll pay half for it, sound alright?” She motioned to the Jeep. Twenty minutes and lots of haggling later, Alexandria sat behind the wheel of an open top, canary yellow Jeep Wrangler, following her parents in the moving van to Red Lake. She was the happiest person in the world. Just her, the sun and the open road. Could she ask for any more?
The convoy pulled into Red Lake at about half past one and parked in front of the Red Lake Café. Alexandria parked her jeep in the front row and hopped out, letting her hair down before checking herself in the mirror. After all looked well, she walked inside and looked around the room, stopping at Cash for a moment before walking up to Aron before asking in a quiet voice “Could I possibly get a sandwich of some sort, I’m starving.”
