As a pious priestess of water, she had to be able to attend to anyone coming to the temple and treat them properly and respectfully. She is helpful and charitable as long as it doesn’t impede herself or others she cares about too much. She is a capable actress; she can weave a lie like the best and hide her emotions even better than that. She has a tendency to not tell others about the things that worry her, no matter how badly they affect her. On the flip note: She can also be rather selfish at times and believes that she is allowed to dish out proper retribution to anyone that wronged her unapologetically. Alignment: chaotic good Talents:

Martial arts: She is trained at proficiently using an opponent’s force against them, evasive maneuvers and effectively striking vital points/pressure points. She has also been taught how to handle certain weapons.
Spiritual protection: Lanassa has affinity with the water spirit, which allows her to channel some of the spirit’s energy. This does burn her out rather quickly and takes half a day to recover.
Superb water movement: Lanassa is a very good swimmer, and she can use her water manipulation to propel herself through water at incredibly high speeds.
Waterbreathing Like all nymphs, she can breathe underwater
Occupation: Priestess of Genidoris Inability: Healing. Usually priestesses at the temple are taught healing magic. But Lanassa just doesn’t seem to have a knack for healing… at least not healing through water magic. This inability only comprises magical healing, she is still able to provide medicinal treatment. Fears:

Lightning: Lanassa developed a fear of thunder and lightning after once getting caught in a storm while swimming.
Abandonment: She is afraid that people she has grown to love might abandon her.
History:
It is said that after the unfortunate death of the king, the queen left the public eye for a year in mourning. The truth of this tale was slightly different, however. In reality, the queen was pregnant with the child of another man. It wasn’t exactly unlike a nymph to be unable to control one’s lust, but this was the queen. The queen was supposed to be a symbol of perfection, loyal to her husband even in death; just like how he was loyal to her. But even more importantly, the breeding laws did extend to the queen as well. She had already been blessed with a son, and so she wasn’t supposed to have any more children. Especially when the baby turned out to be a girl, and therefore the successor of the throne, she decided the only option she had was to abandon the girl. The queen entrusted her secret to one of her closest friends, the head priestess of the temple of the water spirit, so she could raise the child as a priestess of the temple. And thus, Lanassa grew up as a commoner without a family name. She was housed in the temple of the holy spirit of water, in the living quarters of the priestesses. Life at the temple was rather comfortable, actually, because of a certain generous donor to the temple. Her life as a youth was like that of many others. She went to school like many others. She has friends like many others. And she learned magic like many others, and she was awfully good at it, actually. As a priestess in training, the skills she had to learn were many. As the once-guardians of the city in times of war, it was tradition for all attendants of the temple to be trained in the martial arts of the nymphs. She was learned in the religion surrounding the spirits and the history of the world. Well, and then she had to learn the mundane stuff like how to maintain the temple, but that is not really interesting to talk about. She adored the sea, and loved to swim outside of the city’s barriers. She enjoyed playing with the sea life and she propelled herself through the deeps with her magic. Her life was simple, and sternly controlled by the priestesses that taught her, but it was satisfactory. It wasn’t until she was sixteen that she happened to overhear a particular conversation. She had been asked to bring the head priestess and her oldest attendant a late night snack. Instead she around the corner when she heard her name drop. She learned of the true identity of her mother, and it shook the very foundation of how she perceived people. The queen was known as virtuous and magnificent; no, she was a cruel woman who abandoned her child to save her own name. The head priestess was known as a pious woman who had lovingly cared for her all her life, but really she was just watching her mother’s back. She had always told Lanassa that her mother was most likely an unfortunate soul who was unable to raise a child; a mother who left her child at the temple hoping that it would give a child a better life than what she could offer. What followed was the act of a girl who took it all in, and forced herself to accept it. What could she do against the most powerful woman in the nation? Who was going to believe her? She was simply an abandoned child of the temple. Maybe if she had confronted the head priestess directly there and then, she could’ve forced her to action. But no, she was too shocked to go into that room. She ran and shut her tongue for more than eight years. She was Lanassa, simply Lanassa, soon-to-be priestess of the water spirit. But it gnawed at her, the knowledge that everyone that had cared for her was a liar. That the comfortable lifestyle they were living was money to keep them silent. She was a bargaining piece, nothing more. And all she could do was continue to play herself. But then came the day, the faithful day, that they appointed her as sage. She was the most proficient student of the water school by a country mile, of course they would ask her to take on the job. However, Lanassa put forward her own condition to accepting this role. She demanded the head priestess to reveal her heritage to her, and give her the last name that truly belonged to her: Amphitrite, the family name belonging to the queen of the ocean. She coughed up that she had been hiding the fact that she knew for many years now, and the head priestess saw no other option but to tell her the truth. The head priestess warned her, however, of the great slander this would bring upon the queen. But this was exactly why Lanassa was so intent on getting back her name. It was not the promise to one day sit on the throne, it was to get back at the woman who had abandoned her all these years ago in the only way she knew how. Maybe then she could finally put an end to this feeling that was eating her up from the inside. But even with her name restored, it would only be made public should she succeed in her role, and return home a heroine.
Weapon: Although her martial arts training also included training with various weapons that can accompany the art, she doesn’t carry any with her. (She can, however, make them out of ice) She has been trained with the sai, the bow and the staff. Pet: Unfortunately, the temple did not allow any pets. But maybe she’ll find a companion? Strengths:

Acrobatics: A large part of Lanassa’s martial arts training focused on evasive, acrobatic maneuvers and redirection of force. As a result of this training, Lanassa’s body has grown very nimble and dexterous. She has excellent balance and (nearly) always lands on her feet.
Extremely convincing: Her good nature and patience, along with a healthy dose of feminine charm makes her a very pleasant person to be around. She is, however, not above using this as a bargaining chip, and does so regularly. She is a good actress and liar, capable of handling a wide variety of social situations.
Weaknesses:

Autophobia: The thought that someone she cares about might leave her or betray her makes her incredibly anxious.
Closed nature: Tends to bottle up her own feelings under a good natured façade. Usually this will, of course, lead to only more pain in the end.
Lust: Many nymphs have trouble controlling themselves when faced with certain stimuli… Lanassa is no different. This also means she can also be relatively easily distracted under the right(or wrong) circumstances.
Powers: Major:

Water manipulation: Lanassa can freely and expertly manipulate large amounts of water and utilize it very effectively in combat as a means for offense, defense and movement.
Minor:

Frost: Lanassa can instantly turn any water into ice and vice versa. She can use this to alter her water techniques. She can also create objects out of ice.
Internal water control: She is able to enhance her own bodily functions and durability by manipulating her own water density. She can also disorient enemy motor function and cause internal bleeding upon touch by manipulating the water in their body.
