The Pickers

Introdution

Within the Siren Star System, you are a Picker. You search, scratch, scrounge deep against the surfaces of space, looking for anything considered valuable in abandoned and neglected places. Often, it is old artifacts such as flags of extinct races, ancient pieces of arts, or even stone tablets of races in their primitive stages. Other times you may stumble on secret hideouts of local gangs, where within may hosts new and unknown drugs or profitable intel. You are very much a scavenger, but it has been the more popular slang to be called a Picker. Most Pickers travel in bands working for companies, but you instead are a prisoner of the galactic law, a convict. And though you have spent time locked away, you have proven yourself well-behaved and well skilled enough to work off-world as a Picker under the supervision of two law enforcement officials- a captain and a lieutenant. With each object discovered and submitted for inspection your band of Pickers receive both payment and points. The point system holds the amount of points remaining until you are granted full freedom. The more valuable something is, the more points you earn, the sooner you are free soul.

Currently, you have served two years as a Picker and you are half-way to paying off a long awaited debt. But one of you has just found the thing to grant all of you freedom. A chip recording that suggests where the last of the human race may be. The galactic council in charge of the rehabilitation Picker program will grant you your points plus payment if the recording is submitted to them, yet they refuse to go into further investigation for the lost race and instead will chose to destroy the recording all together. The Captain and lieutenant are not too keen of this decision and is choosing to defy the council by searching for the human race themselves, having no choice but bring the Pickers with them. They want answers for the sudden disappearance of an entire race.

Plot

Right off the bat, things kick off with action. While some convicts enjoy the thrill to be back on their feet breaking the law, others are furious to see their attempt to rejoin society and start a new life, be utterly destroyed. A riot is just reckon to break out within the ship.

Though, looking at a bigger picture, the characters will not only be tracing clues to find the last of the human race, but they will also be trying to dodge and out ride attacking council ships. Even on planets, the group will encounter paid mercenaries to terminate them and take the recording. However, the true enemy might just lay within the ship itself, among its crew, some ex-convicts may be working with the council in secret to catch and keep track on the ship’s location. Overall, there will be a lot of character interaction with distrust, suspicion, and betrayal lurking among every corner. Friendships may be forged through alliances, and others broken through deception.

Characters

Since the human race is currently known to be nonexistent, but possibly hiding. All characters will be aliens. The Pickers were chosen to be the only one of their race onboard to mix with other species in order to overcome racial tensions. So all characters will represent their one race. I’m excited to learn about new creatures and their cultures because I have found it rare to find a sci-fi roleplay strictly non-human. Thus, an alien concept design will do as long as the picked alien is not too ionic like a Wookie from Star Wars. There will Spots for Pickers, a Lieutenant, and a Pilot. My character will take spot as Captain, as the Captain will be moving the plot along.

Rules

1.) As GM, of course I get final say and authority on matters when the time calls for it.
2.) Remember to take hold of common roleplay etiquette such as no godmodding, controlling other characters without permission, no Mary Sues, so on and so forth.
3.) This will be a high casual roleplay, quality will be expect far more than quantity, but five hundred words per posts is appreciated.
4.) Keep all content within the roleplay and within the OCC PG-13
5.) The aliens will have to be sentient, meaning that they can perceive their own thoughts and feelings, rather than being more so animal-like.Send me a picture of the alien image you are going to reference your character off of in a private message. So then I can approve whether or not it is appropriate to the roleplay. I have decided to make this a rule when I upload the OOC.
6.) Once you first your character, send me a private message of it for approval.
7.) Final rule and probably one of the most important, please stay active, each character means a lot to the roleplay. I understand there are bumps and humps in life that delay us from hobbies like roleplaying, but if you do have to leave please give me a private message and we will see how we can work things out. But I am looking for long term roleplayers.

Sorry, this is my first roleplay. Thought I was submitting one, but I didn't notice it was the interest check. Here's the real OOC, I promise.
