Those who welcomed the return of Prince Arthas with open arms have been met with cold steel. As the Cult of the Damned sweeps out across the countryside, settlers scamper frantically to find what little safety they can in these twisted new plaguelands. Brittlepond is a small, unassuming village which sits not far from the ruins of the Capital City; nestled in the shadow of Silverpine Forest. But whilst the residents have spent their years in blissful ignorance to the town’s greater purpose, this small settlement holds a dark secret. During the Troll Wars, Brittlepond was the sight of a horrific battle between the Amani and the Human/Elf Alliance. In the midst of the bloodshed, the troll Witch Doctor Zul’Kaz rained warped magics down upon the defenders, using a hellish artifact which would come to be known as the “Eye of the Chaos”. Although the alliance forces emerged victorious, it was decided that the Eye of Chaos posed too great a threat to the free peoples to be ignored, so it was locked away beneath Brittlepond, to be watched over by an order of secret guardians, who were dubbed “The Stalwart”. As the years flickered by, mothers and fathers handed their duty of protection down to their descendants, making sure they were prepared for the day when the Kingdom would once again need to take up arms against invaders. As anarchy blazes throughout Lordaeron, the Scourgelord Naten (a former member of the Stalwart) has set his eyes upon Brittlepond, and seeks to claim the Eye of Chaos for the Cult of the Damned. After years of waiting, the Stalwart must rise up against these invaders, and sacrifice everything to stop the Scourge from harnessing the artifact’s eldritch power. The journey ahead of our heroes will surely be the stuff of legends, as they travel from town to town, forced to stay one step ahead of Lord Naten, whilst the land which they call home burns and crumbles around them. She has a curvaceous form, with broad hips and narrow shoulders. Whilst short in stature, the mage carries herself with an air of serene authority, and there is an undeniable aura of knowledge to her cold blue eyes. Background: Beaudriyah was born during the early days of Dalaran, as the daughter of one of the city's most prominent Magocrats. As a magic user of immense power, Beaudriyah was able to keep herself from aging, and has lived a lifetime hundreds of years longer than that of your average human. During her time she’s been a sorceress, a performer,a pirate, the wife to a noble lord, a barmaid, a vigilante, and a librarian, as well as countless other curious pastimes. After years of shirking any kind of responsibility, Beaudriyah eventually settled down in Bitterpond, where she could feel the Eye Of Chaos calling to her. Upon discovering the artifact, Beaudriyah came into contact with the Stalwart, who enlisted her help as a member of their secret order. Beau has spent many years in Brittlepond, making slight changes to her appearance in order to masquerade as her own descendents, so as not to draw unwanted attention to herself. She has had many different names during her stay, and uses elaborate arcane illusions to create the impression that she is a young girl living with her parents, instead of a centuries-old sorceress who watches over the people of Brittlepond. Name: Alistair Roet Age: Late Twenties Race: Human Physical Description : Alistair is a well-built young man, with lightly tanned skin and sandy blonde hair. He carries himself well, but not too proudly, and has a smile on his face more often than not. He’s genuinely considered to be handsome, and has a warm personality to match. Background: Alistair has spent his entire life growing up in Brittlepond, and knows little of the world which lies beyond the borders of his small town. Like his father before him, Alistair is a member of the Stalwart, and received the finest training which the secret order has to offer. He’s always been plagued with wanderlust, and now that Lordaeron has fallen he might just have a chance to indulge it. Name: Winston Boldmantle (Old Man Winston) Age: 72 Race: Human Physical Description: Winston is a hard-face, worn-out looking figure, with tufts of silvery grey hair, and skin like boiled leather. He stands with a slight hunch, although still retains a decent amount of muscle from his fighting days. Background: Winston hails from Stromgarde, and spent his early years within the lush expanse of the Arathi Highlands. His youth was one of joy and adventure, spent roaming the rolling hills of his homeland. However, the old man’s latter years were marred by bloody conflict, as he fought in both the First and Second Wars. Although he was a soldier of great notoriety, his years of service took a heavy toll on his mind, and left him little more than a rambling alcoholic. Nowadays, Winston spends his days half-asleep in Brittlepond, stumbling down streets and alleyways with a bottle of something bitter in one hand. Despite all of this, the warrior within Winston has yet to fade, and when the call to arms is sounded the old champion will surely answer. Name: Lord Naten Age: Mid-Thirties Race: Undead Physical Description: A hulking figure, clad from head-to-toe in runic platemail, Lord Naten is a horrific sight to behold. His movements are slow and lumbering, yet beneath these garments stands a figure of meticulous ruthlessness, whose sadistic mindset is just as worthy of inspiring dread as his towering appearance. Background: Less than little is known of the Scourgelord called Naten, other than the fact that he was once a member of The Stalwart, and has since served in the fallen prince’s expedition to Northrend. Even in death, Natan continues to serve Arthas, with the same fierce bloodlust which distinguished him as a champion in the crown’s army.
The fall of Lordaeron is a self-contained story revolving around a (mostly) original cast of heroes; set in the Warcraft universe, just after Arthas’ betrayal. Players will assume control of characters of their own creation, and take part in an epic quest across the ruined kingdom. Not every member of our group needs to be a member of the Stalwart, but we will all be united by in our quest to keep the Eye of Chaos out of the hands of the scourge. You don’t need a flawless knowledge of warcraft lore to join, but a decent understanding will definitely help. Anything you’re unsure of can be double-checked on WoW Wiki or Wowpedia. The character races available to you reflected the state of the Alliance at the time which the game is set, so Gnomes, Worgen,Draenei, Night Elves, etc. aren’t playable. I’d like a nice diverse cast of characters if possible, so we don’t all need to be mighty warriors or all-powerful mages. The IC will go live on the 6th of May at the latest, so please try and get your character sheets in by then, before if possible so that we can start ASAP.
Name: Remember, different races/regions have different naming customs. You aren’t likely to find a Dwarf named Jerry, for example. Age: Once again, different races have different lifespans. A table comparing lifespans can be found on WoW Wiki. Race: Either human, high elf, or dwarf. If you want be a different race then your CS will be held up to heavy scrutiny, and you will need to justify your character being in Brittlepond. Physical Description: A written description of your character’s appearance. Can be accompanied by an image, but please no manga. Unless it's from the Warcraft manga, then I guess that’s okay. Personality: Try and paint as clear a picture of your character as you can. This doesn't need to be paragraphs and paragraphs long, but please try and write something substantial. Background: The history of your character leading up to the Fall of Lordaeron.
