@R31GN correct soul tech has less strain, but is less powerful were the naturalist way which could be considered used like basic magic is more powerful has more strain and harder to control. Hence the more strain.  The mountains are spread over the continent(realm) to monitor it with leaving few gaps in there presence and control.
