@Onarax Other than what I've told you, there are a few others things.

1) Third Eye is great. I'll put that onto the list for you.
2) Tell me what application you see for Negative Space and I'll decide from there whether or not to include it. It seems like it could lead to some metagaming which is why I want to see how you would apply it should your character get it. (or other future characters for that matter.)
3) Tell me more about this Demonic Form. Could we call it Feral Form instead? Demonic tends to imply that there is a possession when that really isn't the case. How long can they stay in the form? How long does it take to go between forms? How long of a cool down does the power have?

Like say... Could he transform into about 1 minutes time and then have to wait 5-10 minutes before being able to shift back, which would also take about 1 minute?

@Acromantula No actually, sorry! We're just getting started on closing up apps and getting IC started. Thanks for the interest though!

And now, speaking of...

Here's the random powers!

Scarlet Red - Velocity Manipulation - Prudence
Teal - Enhanced Charisma - Gareth
Cerulean Blue - Dimensional Tether - Acheri
Orange - Agnikinesis - Penelope
Yellow - Shadow Manipulation - Eurig
Black - Botany Manipulation - Sam
Forest Green - Sound Manipulation - Soleil [[REROLLED]]
Amber - Photokinesis - East
Maroon - Cryokinesis - Emily
Emerald - Neon Gas Manipulation - Lux
Dark Purple - Conjuring - Ambrose

If you have questions about powers, feel free to ask the group. And if you want a reroll, let me know and I'll set it up for you.

Damn, missed a lot. "Enhanced Charisma", eh? Not my first choice, but I'd rather not risk the re-roll.

I actually have something else we'll need to figure out before starting up IC.

Who is living with who?

Rohrbach made arrangements that all participants be moved to the apartment complex just outside his lab for easy access to the students should anything go wrong (he lives at the lab). So... It's co-ed and but males can't room with females, but they can be on the same hallway.

Actually, I'll draw out a map here in a bit. For now, work on getting paired up for rooms. Otherwise, I'll randomize those too. :P

-shrugs-

Since they're apartments and not dorms, I'm assuming this means each person has their own bedroom and bathroom, with a shared living room and kitchen (this is how my apartment is set up). Either way, idk. Depending on when the RP starts, I'd imagine nobody knows anybody else depending on what they're majoring in.

Warning, very rough sketches...

And then each room's general layout...

...Does it look okay? Anyone is welcome to take a stab and creating something better, I will not be insulted in the least. I'm lazy and have never lived in an apartment.

Also be mindful that though it is labeled an apartment, it's still owned by the college, so an RA will also be living there. Which... I need to make a CS for... Lel.

Gareth'll probably major in philosophy or something.

Also, the superpower wiki says Enhanced charisma is essentially enhanced leadership and a magnetic personality.

Gareth isn't going to like this one bit. I love it!

Annoyingly long/technical post ahead...

Apartments owned by the college don't necessary still need an RA. I used to live in university apartments which were technically still "campus housing" along with the dorms, but there was no RA or anything, just an office in the center of the building which handled mail, packages, repair requests, etc. Typically university apartments are used by upperclassmen and grad students as an alternative to finding off-campus housing, so they treat you much more like adults than university dorms do.

Every apartment complex I've come across (including the university apartments) has had multiple floorplans available for different price points, including single bedroom units if you want to live alone (and pay more per month) and multiple 2 bedroom options. For example, the apartment complex I will be living in next year has six floorplans, with three one-bedroom and three two-bedroom options. The typical breakdown of floorplans I've seen is:

- Studio (1br/1ba), which is like a dorm room with a kitchen. Cheap, but still not as cheap per person as at least one 2br floorplan.
- 1br/1ba, with a living room, kitchen and separate bedroom/bathroom.
- A bigger 1br/1ba, with an additional room to be used as an office/study.
- 2br/1ba, which is like the rendering you posted.
- 2br/2ba, with one master bedroom (bathroom is accessible without leaving the bedroom) and one normal bedroom (bathroom is right next to the bedroom). This is what I currently live in, and is usually the smallest floorplan for non-upscale complexes that has in-unit laundry (rather than having to go to the communal laundromat).
- A bigger 2br/2ba, with an additional room to be used as an office/study.
- Townhome floor plans, which put the bedrooms on a second floor and can be from 2br/2ba to 4br/2.5ba.

I dunno how detailed you want to get with it, but I've never seen an apartment complex with only one floorplan. I do like that 2br/1ba floorplan rendering you posted though. I'd be happy to sketch out some technical floorplans or use my home design software or something if you'd like. Interestingly enough, the university apartment complex I used to live in had ONLY single-bedroom units. You could pick from a studio and a slightly bigger unit with a separate bedroom, but they were all for one person only.

(I've spent way too much time researching various apartment complexes around town so I know way too much about them. Sorry...)

What are the majors there? Is it open ended? Prudence is probably an Art Major of some sort. I'm not picky about room arrangements.

Made the other edits. As far as the powers:

Negative Space basically has the user make a field around them in which other powers don't work. The larger the field the more tiring it can be for the user. So basically if Gō was fighting someone with powers, he could make a small space to bring his opponent down to normal essentially, obviously for perps with guns and stuff this power isn't really all that effective, but it lets him fight well against people who overly rely on their powers. For the sake of balance of though, someone with insanely strong powers would probably be difficult to completely negate.

Feral form works as well, I mainly chose the name demonic because I envisioned it looking demonic in appearance. The power would be tied to how exhausted the user got, so in a typical situation involving a lot of movement and stuff it could probably last for like 10 minutes or so, but that would go down when he takes damage. As it leaves the user exhausted after use it really doesn't lend itself for rapid switches. The transformation itself would be pretty quick. Basically the idea is for a quick, temporary surge in power to deal with difficult situations, afterwards the user would be pretty vulnerable.

Write and I talked a little, and we'd be perfectly happy having Acheri and Soleil as roommates.

(Technical details excised for space efficiency)

This sounds a lot like my research for next fall. And it's all completely accurate, but (in my opinion) it might be a dose of realism it might be easier to overlook. If the good doc has moved all our characters into the apartments for ease of access, it's easier to assume that he more or less standardized the rooms. Because otherwise we have to go through the extra little bit of mental gymnastics to figure out why college students who signed up for experiments to help pay the bills might be in an expensive floor plan, and the rest might be in a cheaper one.

Just seems a little simpler to more or less standardize. Just my two cents, I don't feel strongly about it.

All good points. I don't feel strongly about anything either, I just figured Roze might want the perspective of someone who is way more familiar with apartments than is probably healthy. Lol. Definitely if Rohrbach is in charge of the living situation it would make sense for him to standardize everything.

Alright. Yes to both. I'll put them in the pool and get you a random power here in a bit.

@Driving Park

I would put you on Apartment detail, but are you actually going to finish it in a timely manner? (And I do not mean that in a negative way at all.) I just know you and I also know that Athalia's map has been a work in progress for a while now. But if you want to work on some floor plans and make a blurb for the apartment complex on the etherpad so I can post it up for everyone, I'd love that. I've just known you for too long to know that it might take you a while to do.

And personally... different floor plans kind of makes my head explode so I went with simple. But if you want to handle all of the apartment planning, I'll help out best I can.

(This is why I like talking things out in the pad, I don't get left behind and my posts don't become irrelevant anymore)

Edit: Rohrbach would have given the basics of the basics... like...

Rohrbach: I need a building for my participants to live in when my experiment starts a few years from now.
School: Okay, what do you want?
Rohrbach: -looks at possible choices- -gets irritated with how many there are- Just give me like... 12 rooms of this. -points at random floor plan-
School: Uhh... okay.

Edit Edit: You should probably put your character's major in their other section if it's not laid out in their CS. :P

Well, fortunately I'm officially in summer so I have a lot more time to work on things like this right now. I will say that the Athalia map probably isn't a fair comparison, because for a long time I couldn't proceed until other people gave me information on their nations/cities/etc., but I see your point. Also I'm a lot more experienced at floorplans, as I've done many (as opposed to zero maps prior to the Athalia map). But if it's one floorplan you can probably just go with what you've got and I can just do whatever to add additional fluff later.

I guess just let me know when this is figured out. As I said I am not picky. If anyone wants to room with Prudence, let me know.

Also are majors here open-ended or are they specific? Just wondering. I have Prudence as an Art Major.

Oh well... Hmm...

My only problem is that, as you said it's probable that none of these people have meet prior to the experiment. But... people can chose which sort of living arrangement they'd want. So... I'd be more than happy to let you work on housing situations such as possible floor plans and letting people choose. Penelope will probably want either a two person arrangement or three.

But it's also important to remember that housing will be completely paid for by Rohrbach for the students. They only have to pay tuition and meal plans. That's it. He's got everything else covered. So it'll just depend on what rooms are available in the apartment and what we want (because we can make it work but once it's set, it's set in stone).

Also, the RA will only be for when you get locked outside, when there is a dispute, when there's a maintenance issue, and/or if anything else happens, like burglary. Essentially, they want someone there that will report to the school.

But if everyone is strongly against having an RA in the building, it doesn't particularly matter to me.

Sorry for the double post, but it's easier. Yes, they are open ended.

If you want to talk to me about planning stuff, move to the pad. It's much easier and more fluid to talk there than here when planning.

On another note, since randomness is kind of out thing in this RP, perhaps the rooming should be random as well.

I think the roommate situation is fine being decided by the players. After all some people come into the RP knowing some people and wanting to be able to interact with them in some kind of guaranteed way I think.

I don't really see a need for roommates to be randomized. Randomizing the powers is good as a draw of the game, because it shakes up the usual dynamic of designing powers that go with characters and vice versa.

Randomizing roommates doesn't really serve much of a purpose beyond taking away some agency for the people who'd prefer to pick them.

There's been talk in the Etherpad about roommates, but it's up to anyone who they want to be with, I imagine. It's only a small portion of the overall plot. Heck, I imagine given the fact we are all different it's possible we may not even be rooming with each other.
