The year is 2674, 384 years after the world has been consumed by a lethal mutagenic toxin of unknown origin, colloquially named "The Dark Fog". Those exposed underwent horrific mutations, often dying from the ordeal. Those which survived became monstrosities, making life a struggle even for those who had managed to avoid exposure. Large domed cities sprung up quickly to protect the human race, though these cities were built by private parties, not existing world governments.

Domino City is an example of these cities. This fifty mile diameter circular city protects thousands from the dangers of the outside world, though some parts are better than others. The center of the city is reserved for high class citizens, and the quality of life reflects that. Advanced technology is commonplace and people are always smiling. As you move towards the rim however things change. Technology becomes more and more restricted, police patrol heavily with abusive intent, and the people live in poverty and filth.

Due to the rim of the city being for the most part ill maintained, some small amounts of the Dark Fog slip in now and then. Normally this is nothing to worry about, as mutations in developed humans only occur at higher concentrations. However, it's another story for the still developing fetuses in a mother's womb. These small amounts of toxin cause mutations in the child, the result being a human gifted with extraordinary power. These humans are referred to as "Children of the Dark" and are hunted down by the military police force, either to be experimented on or executed. Needless to say, there are a few rebellious power wielders who don't get along with the police force, and they do what they can to retaliate and save others like them.

[Hider=The Setting]
Domino city, one of the first great domed cities built to protect the human race. It is located on the west coast of the former United States of America, in an area once known as California. The large dome around the city shields against the Dark Fog and abominations outside the city. It blocks what little sunlight reaches the ground, but has bright ceiling lights which are used to simulate a day and night cycle. The city is comprised of five ringed districts. From center to rim, these districts are the Political Ring, R&D Ring, Corporate Ring, Agriculture Ring, and the Industrial Ring at the rim. Each of these rings is five miles thick, aside from the Political Ring being a circle with a five mile radius. Housing developments are scattered throughout all the rings, most often making use of vertical space to save room. These range from luxurious skyrises to seedy condominiums  as one travels from the center of the city to the rim.

Political Ring
The idyllic center of Domino City, lush with greenery and magnificent architecture. This district is home to all of the important political and military figures of the city. In the very center lies the Capitol Building, where meetings of state occur and criminals are brought to be judged. Many buildings in this area are for recreation and entertainment. 

R&D Ring
Nearly as nice as the Political Ring, the R&D Ring is where all of Domino's technology comes from and , as well as where the majority of Domino's military forces are housed and deployed from. Along with the military police, scientists and doctors also reside in this district.

Corporate Ring 
The middle Ring of Domino City is always bustling with people from all parts of the city, as it holds the majority of shops and businesses. Buildings are packed closer together, and are shorter as the dome above declines toward the ground. The middle class live here, making a living mostly by running their stores.

Agriculture Ring
The fourth ring of the city, this district  consists mainly of large indoor farms, which grow produce or breed livestock. The streets are narrow between the buildings here, and many of the farmers' housings have fallen into slight disrepair.

Industrial Ring
The largest district of the city, and the most heavily populated. The Industrial Ring is often referred to as the slums, though like all the other districts it plays a role in keeping the city self sufficient. The structures here are mostly factories which produce nearly everything Domino City needs, though housing projects and warehouses can be found as well. Buildings are crammed together here, often times sharing walls. What alleys there are are almost too thin for most people to squeeze through, and the streets aren't much better.[/hider]

Welcome, one and all, to Chronicles of the Dark, a roleplay in which you shall be playing as either a Child of the Dark or an officer in the Military Police (or both). The plot will be revolving around the struggles between these factions and the interactions between characters around Domino City, as well as whatever I may or may not have up my sleeves.
