Name: Mallory Grimoire Age: 19 Sex: Female Spices: Kumakatok. The Kumakatok were omens of death in the Philippines, and they would knock on the doors of those fated to die. There are three of them, two old men, and one young girl — Mallory happens to be that young girl. Appearance:

Personality: A strong and confident young woman, she’s determined to make her way in the world. Witty and ambitious, she is very calm and decisive, but with a dark sense of humor. She does, however, have a guilty pleasure in gossiping and hearing secrets not meant for her. Abilities/skills: She has the ability to postpone death for up to thirty seconds for another individual, can limit interaction with physical objects when in true form, senses who is near to death, able to mimic the powers of a ghost (mild telekinesis). She can “read souls” so basically, she can know if someone has sold their soul and where they’re likely to end up. Occupation: She’s a receptionist at a chiropractor, as student loans are still a burden. Occupation based on beast: Since she’s a door knocker, some of the various gangs will ask for her to go and inform people that death is imminent. She basically is the person who sends out the warning messages for the beast mafia. Strengths: Intelligent, light on her feet, can quote Oscar Wilde, able to discern the truth quickly, calm, decisive, and relentless. Weakness: Iron and salt will have her be down for the count. In her true form, if someone removes her hood, she is basically rendered useless and will be no more useful than a vegetable for ages. If she gets too emotional, her powers will go out of control in a hilarious meltdown. And finally, each town she goes to, if someone is near death, she MUST go knock on their door, or she’ll get extremely weak. Her sense of humor can be off putting as well at times. History: Her mother married Mallory’s father when he was rather old, and never caught on that he wasn’t who he seemed. Once she had Mallory and saw the thing she gave birth to, she screamed in fear and terror, looking at the form of a Kumakatok underneath the cloak. Luckily for Mallory and her father (or perhaps unluckily?), her mother quickly died in childbirth, right after Mallory’s father began knocking. Since then, she was raised by her father and her uncle, other Kamakatoks. They traveled the world, with Mallory being raised in Egypt for the majority of her teenage years, as her father and uncle worked on an archaeological dig, attempting to learn more about their own kind. Her childhood years were fairly uneventful, except for on one occasion where she was lost inside of a crypt, and had to turn into her true form in order to merely glide through the walls to find her way out. The other archaeologists in the team regarded Mallory as family, and ended up raising enough money to send her to NYU. Living in New York by herself, Mallory has a small apartment and rooms with a human girl named Eleanor. The two of them are mildly close, as both of them study at NYU. Just like her father and uncle, Mallory is hoping to become an archaeologist —and perhaps move to a town where she doesn’t spend her entire evenings knocking on doors to warn people of impending death. It makes her a bit tired in the morning, and cranky, of course. Given that money doesn’t go too far for a school like NYU, she took up a job as a receptionist, watching people trot inside to receive a back adjustment each day. She hardly cares about her work, and spends most of her time reading about dig sites. Her job for the “beast mafia”brings in some extra cash as well, causing her to be expected to graduate debt free.
